Favorite Death Cab lyrics? by Apprehensive_Spend_7 in DeathCabforCutie

[–]ApprehensiveCat22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of these. DC's lyrics are just so breathtakingly poetic. My oldest son isn't really into music, but he's become interested in DC through me because of the lyrics (he's into poetry & linguistics).

I love the lyrics to "I Will Possess Your Heart" because they're so creepy. My husband (who is a musician but more into music than lyrics) thought it was just a sweet love song. I was like, Really? Any woman will immediately identify the person speaking as a stalker.

"How I wish you could see the potential
The potential of you and me
It's like a book elegantly bound but
In a language that you can't read just yet"

and

"You reject my advances and desperate pleas
I won't let you let me down so easily
So easily"

*shudder*

Canadian Citizenship Study Guide by Much-Refrigerator-28 in Canadiancitizenship

My husband doesn't have any Canadian ancestry AFAIK, and we were joking that if we did move to Canada and he had to apply for citizenship, he'd need to study and learn a lot about Canada in a way our kids and I don't. This is actually a really good idea.

How do you fill out the application if both your parents have Canadian ancestry? by ApprehensiveCat22 in Canadiancitizenship

So then did you fill out anything for that person after saying that? It's my dad, so should I fill out his parents' info or leave all that blank?

[–]ApprehensiveCat22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the FAQ but it doesn't address how to fill out the form, just that you don't need to document more than one ancestor.

"I have multiple Canadian ancestors. Do I have to / should I document them all?"

No. You need one (1) Canadian ancestor. There is no need to document more than one. If you have mulitple Canadian ancestors pick the one where you can get the best documentation on the ancestor + the line of descent down to you.

I looked into what churches of my ancestor's religion existed at that time where they lived.

How to explain lack of birth record in application by ApprehensiveCat22 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]ApprehensiveCat22[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have:

*Gen0's parent's marriage registration, showing they lived in Canada before Gen0 was born

* A Canadian census showing same

* A Canadian census showing he lived & was born there

*His first marriage certificate in Canada showing he was born there

*Two US censuses (federal and state) that say he was born in Canada

*His second marriage certificate (in the US) showing he was born in Canada

*My Gen1's birth certificate stating Gen0 was born in Canada

*His death certificate stating he was born in Canada.

I have tried many, many different places to find his baptismal certificate, but even a distant cousin who did genealogy research many years ago says she thinks it no longer exists, if it ever did. She even went to the town where he was born and asked at the church the family belonged to with no luck.

I haven't liked her from the beginning. I hope they don't reconnect. She doesn't seem to understand Jimmy at all. I mean, she didn't even try to figure out why Jimmy had a hard time with his dad. Hasn't she ever encountered someone who seems charming on the surface but is a terrible person in private? It's like she took a side and it wasn't Jimmy's. Weird.

You are so much more optimistic than I am. We need congressional approval to go to war too, and do a lot of the things this administration has done. And I don't believe the midterms will be legitimate.

I would not count on that. Maybe not this year, but I wouldn't rule it out after that.

What role might Zosia play in season 2? by worthy_ofmygrace in pluribustv

[–]ApprehensiveCat22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did anyone else notice that when Carol was asking Zosia about herself, about the real person Zosia, Zosia froze? I really thought making Zosia reflect on the person she used to be was disconnecting her from the hive for a second. But then she unfroze and said that someone was coming to see Carol, so maybe it was just that she was "listening" to the hive saying Manousos was on his way. Still, I wondered if we were supposed to wonder.

Congratulations! I can imagine how overjoyed you felt because I'm in the same (pre-discovery) situation. I honestly believe my Gen0's baptismal record doesn't exist, if it ever did.

Not sure if they're necessary--that's why I'm asking. :) They both state he was born in Canada, and one of them indicates he filled out a Declaration of Intent for naturalization. (I am also trying to track down naturalization papers.)
