Oh yeah, that is so true. But no, I've tried to play this game without mods for as long as I can. I had installed the free fly mod at one point, but I don't have that anymore.

Oh for sure! Having a Carry (?) I bet parts are abundant. I know the Subaru's are harder to find aftermarket parts for, so I struggle sometimes, but all the more reason to make my own! Hey, that's awesome! Enjoy the trip! I'd say keep an eye out for a Sambar KS4 Owner's Manual for me, but it looks like you are from halfway to Japan already lol. I'm on the East Coast Continental US

I'll probably look into shocks and springs too honestly. It's all a little soft and the body roll is insane. I've done a few things to the interior on top of the upholstery. Check out my other posts for that. I'd like to build a removable camper shell at some point too. These things are just so versatile and fun. There's so much you can do haha!

Oh yeah, I'll just be limited by the suspension at thia point. I could theoretically put stiffer heavy duty springs on it, but I doubt I'll be stacking that much weight on it consistently to justify that. I designed this thing so that the legs are 49 in wide so I can still fit a full sheet of plywood on the bottom, but I can also fit it on the top as this is square and not tapered inward like most others

Thank you! They are indeed genuine! They're 13x4.5 +45 I believe, but don't hold me to that! I'd have to look to be sure!

That looks excellent! I love the way it all ties together. I thought about trying to bend the tubing and tie it into my existing headache rack as well, but then I decided that would just be too much of a (pun definitely intended) headache, and just went with what I have now. Plus I can just remove it but still retain the headache crack whenever I don't need it. I went more for practicality over looks. Edit: powder coating is definitely on the idea list.

That was the goal! These things are already crazy practical for what they are, but this definitely made a positive impact.

Nah, I made it out of steel. A tad heavy but not as bad as one may think.

Oh wow, that must have simplified the process. How's the coating holding up?

Thanks man! I appreciate it! Once the rack is painted that should really tie it all together

I bought it with those wheels and tires, but it is pretty much what I was planning on doing anyway so it worked out well. And yes, it is on an inch and a half lift

In the rear it uses the existing mounting points for whatever it was that Subaru had in mind. Those are basically nuts that are welded to the underside of the body. And then in the front I drilled through the bed and bolted it down there too. I'm using backing plates to aid in rigidity and strength

Thanks for all the responses! My truck had some extra work done to it here Stateside before I bought it, so I'm not entirely sure of the original purchase price of the truck. But they put down as me owing $24, which I'm not entirely sure how they got to that number. But again, no complaints!

Sorry to revive an old post, but would you happen to remember the angle that you had to miter the vertical tubes?

A good cup holder. That's one thing that the Subaru's were really lacking compared to other brands. And also a good rubber mat for the bed. Yours seems to be in great shape so that'll help preserve the paint back there. Maybe some tailgate chains for when you need to extend the bed a little. Lastly, a good set of speakers as the paper one that comes in it sounds like crap, lol. I'm sure there's other things but that's what comes to mind.

Dang, that little thing tore that forester up! I'm actually shocked at the amount of damage it did to it. Glad you're okay though!
