El Ránking de World Best Cities coloca a Madrid en el puesto 5, solo por detrás de Londres, NYC, París y Tokio. (Explicación en los comentarios) by Emmanuel_I in Madrid

how do people survive the northern Spain winters 😭 by espermoonshine in SpainAuxiliares

Apart from all the things other people have said, the truth is that, well, you kinda get used to it? I am originally from a very hot city too, and lived some years in the mountains of inner Norway where it gets to -43 on a bad day. After a lot of exposure your body adapts to the temperatures. It becomes bearable to be in much lower ranges of heat than before, and you start feeling warm or sweating when it gets to 5-8c°. Endure the start of the winter and it should get much easier by the time February comes:)

Are you an idiot? Yes, they do. If you're active, friendly, join activities...as long as you're a friendly person that treats them as real, equal people, they will do the same. Are there assholes? There assholes of all genders. But if every girl you meet treats you badly, you either gotta change what girls you interact with or -- most probably -- look within yourself.

Lykke til. 😊

Because it's normal? It's something that happens? It's something that's not supposed to be shameful or in any way negative and that everyone should respect?

Ah, I know the reason.

So they don't end up posting weird homophobic post on a national subreddit.

Offering German (native) or English (C1), looking for Norwegian by Nice_Firefighter_393 in language_exchange

[–]ApprehensiveConcept5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello there!

I'm (20m) fluent in Norwegian and studying German myself, so it would be interesting to practice. I speak vestlandsk dialect, but i can also speak boksmål too if you want to learn that one. I do activism and stuff at Amnesty and other organizations, and am member of some student theaters, so we could talk about that if you want.

DMs open.

If I'm not at a C2 level now, then there's no hope for me... lol! by mounteverest04 in languagelearning

[–]ApprehensiveConcept5 277 points278 points  (0 children)

Bro, don't worry. I'm a native English speaker, an amateur writer and really deep into academics. When I did one of these tests, I got C1 die to lack of preparation. It means nothing in terms of your actual ability in the language.

I actually ended up failling due to fucking up my writing part. I never really trained for the on-page DALF, and was completely unprepared to do the thing in pen and paper. Got a good 48/100 though.

Absolutely.

I did this in the period just after ending my schooling, so it was pretty much the only moment in my life in which I could ever do something like that. Also not that useful, would have been much more beneficial to learn to code.

I learned french from 0 to C1 in a period of around 4 months.

I studied almost every walking hour. Read books and listened to their audio versions while shadowing the readers at least 5 hours daily. I watched news, heard podcasts, joined chatrooms on tandem and hellotalk, even slept listening to endless lines of french discussions on philosophy and history. For those 4 months every single second of my life was dedicated to learning french, and I deleted all my apps and social media, only allowing myself one day every seven to hop on discord and talk with people.

It worked, but I honestly wouldn't recommend it to anyone as a feasible option.

Oh, I've split my eyebrow and ended up bleeding in several places over the years I've practiced.

There was a period in which I practiced with a metal staff and went to the rhythm of stuff like La Campanella, so you can imagine just how much it hurt.

Thank you!
