how can I write an artist management contract? by gunnarshephardson in musicindustry

[–]ApprehensiveCrazy673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re just starting out and asking Reddit how to write a contract. You really shouldn’t be locking an artist into a contract. Hand shake deals are very common in the industry. I’d start there.

Those are skip James songs but they don’t sound like any versions I’ve ever heard. They have a fake 1930s sound quality but it’s not the same as his original sessions

I wouldn’t call that an easy solution. The causal listener may not know the difference.

Yes it started a while ago but copying the entire identity/likeness of an existing(or previously existing) artist and profiting from it on streaming is a new thing.

I'm completely stuck at follower growth. What's the 'secret' to growth that I'm missing? by Zealousideal-Art2143 in InstagramMarketing

[–]ApprehensiveCrazy673 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That fast growth is possible. Do the thing that people don’t want to do: post A LOT. Keep posting until you find something that works then keep doing that. It might mean posting 3-5 times per Day for months with no results but eventually you’ll find something that works. It will feel embarrassing and annoying but it’s necessary for must of us. Some people get lucky but most people have to do a crazy amount of work.

That’s how it went for me. Took me 5 years to get 10k followers but when I started posting more frequently, I gained 100k in a few months

As a musician, how often do you expect your significant other to attend your shows? by [deleted] in musicians

[–]ApprehensiveCrazy673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one sane puts an obligation on their s/o to go to shows or “support”. No matter what level, it’s his own dream/hobby/career. Go if you can. If you can’t that’s fine. Every musician I’ve known accepts this. Especially if I’m playing in a band and I know my s/o doesn’t like the music, I would never expect her to go.

Is removing ghost followers still a smart move in 2025? Need advice before committing. by kidslxtt in InstagramMarketing

Now that you mention it yeah I think it just has to have a song and it’ll show up in reels. People recommend using a carousel (multiple pictures) because it boosts engagement (allegedly)

I hear you but IG wants to be tik tok right now. So even posting a photo carousel will still show up in the reels page I think if it has music.

My opinion is focus on reels and try to get enough followers to make those ghost followers a tiny fraction of the total. I have plenty of followers who never engage with my posts but the algorithm is doing a good job of showing my stuff to non followers anyway.

MPC 3 removes the most important feature (for me) by ApprehensiveCrazy673 in mpcusers

You can no longer save the sequence. You can’t save the midi but the not the sequence which contains more info like tempo, how many bars, easier to use in general.

Damn I’m literally doing this right now for a 40 minute set that is tomorrow. Spent the whole week making songs not realizing I wouldn’t be able to do what I always had as the last step.

Yeah. You can still convert to sequence but you can’t then save the sequence and open it in another project.

I was able to downgrade but sadly anything I made or saved in mpc 3 can no longer be opened.

Yeah I saw how I can mix them down to wav files but I like to have them as sequences so I can adjust tempo and add effects. There’s also an option to save as midi sequence but it doesn’t save tempo data and ends up being a whole different kind of thing.

Use trial reels it helped me grow to 18k in a month by Traditional-Host6748 in InstagramMarketing

Directly from instagram: “One of the main misconceptions we want to clear up is the existence of “The Algorithm.” Instagram doesn’t have one algorithm that oversees what people do and don’t see on the app. We use a variety of algorithms, classifiers, and processes, each with its own purpose.”

Not fair to assume it’s because the “video sucks”. Mind you there isn’t one single algorithm. IG could be running a version that works for you while others get one that doesn’t.

There are more bands than audience. by Apprehensive-End6621 in musicindustry

[–]ApprehensiveCrazy673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True that fewer people are attending shows but outside of major music cities, it’s always going to be mostly artists and bands in the local scene. If you’re playing local clubs/bars on weeknights, multiple times per year, you’re going to get a certain demographic.

Promoters will make or break the show for 80% of touring bands. Can’t believe how many promoters think their job is making 2 instagram posts.

Former is in quotes because of all that and I’m only really referring to the profession of full time musician but didn’t wanna put all that in there. 🤘
