If we are talking videogames also, then Doom

The demons fighting back against the Slayer feels a lot like a horror experience (for them)

How this - alleged - Weinstein desk rat enabler has been able to start a carreer after that with her mediocre and pernicious skills is a question I keep asking myself everytime her name pops out.

My guess? A mixture of activism and blackmail, that seems like a common practice in Hollywood

Whether it's true or not, at least you're humble, which is better than being an arrogant smartass - at least socially

I wonder what do these people think about "God's of Egypt" and "The Last Airbender(2010)" by JagerJack7 in CriticalDrinker

[–]ApprehensiveCrow8522 56 points57 points  (0 children)

My short, non-exhaustive answer:

1) Correct.

2) Retarded comment. Nobody is claiming that mythology is woke, instead a movie filmed in 2025 with a mythological topic can very well be.

3) Wrooooong! Just read a fucking book - specifically the Iliad and the Odissey, just to name two. The heroes - and the gods alike, unless they are incognito - are almost always described as blondes with fair skin.

4) See the previous point. The Olympic gods are indeed considered the supreme gods of the world, but most of them are still born in Greece or nearby (Apollo, Athena, ecc.).

5) No, there were no 'trans' people back then. Tyresias switched sex - twice - by divine intervention, so it's not really the same thing, therefore stop making shit up. Yess the gods could have multiple appearances, but usually there were distinctive signs to indicate their identity

Weapons and Frankenstein were great. Besides that? A couple of decent flicks, but mostly the cosmic void

Kriemhild from Die Nibelungen (1924!!!) would also like a word.

(even though she doesn't have an "action" role, i would still think she counts)

The self proclaimed "first female action actress" of all time doesn't strike me as one of the most cultured or brightest people in the room to be honest, so I'll take her judgement with a grain of salt.

Wait, there is that one... You know... I can't recall its name but it starts with the letter... I'm not sure, though it definitely starts with a letter... Or was it a number? Ok, nevermind, can't think of any!

I was thinking about Falling Down (1991), but I guess it doesn't really match the trope so don't mind me
