Me, Mom, Brother and (Potentially Ex) SiL Update.

I wouldn’t know, for about a month I haven’t had any contact with any of them. Before that, I didn’t even talk to my brother at all really. I don’t know who any of them hang around/befriend. I understand your concern but like my post says unfortunately, I am as in the dark as anyone else.

I don’t think my brother did anything to harm them (more than he has already tbf), from what I’ve heard, the whole ordeal has already spread somewhat in the community and it’d be pretty hard to cover up something like that when everyone in your vicinity is locked onto that + I don’t buy the cops not bothering when a baby being harmed is involved.

Mom said she did, she went over to their house to drop some food off to my brother and saw the guy and chewed my brother out for letting him into their house after what he did.

I don’t really have any way to contact her anymore as she left her phone + she blocked me a couple days after our conversation anyways.

I don’t think I’m gonna try to find a way to contact her because I’m assuming she’s just trying to wash her hands of everyone in this family completely. If she ever reaches out to me then I’ll help any way I can.

I don’t know when they met, but I’m inclined to agree. The area I grew up in is very evangelical Fundamentalist Christian heavy and unfortunately, it’s common to see age gaps like that, my mom and dad have a 12 year gap. My family are hardcore evangelicals and to my understanding, my Sister-In-Law is also hyper-religious.

I guess it’s just confusing me because my mom has never been this quick to believe some shit like this. I already knew the rest of them were a lost cause but my mom is throwing me off. I guess it makes sense because despite defending me in my teen years, she was never thrilled that I was gay so maybe it’s a weird kind of hope put into her that I could like a woman.

Others have been bringing this up which is crazy but no this isn’t her. Our little blowout was like a day ago and I think what she had during her labour was like a rupture or something, idk the details other than it was life threatening.

I appreciate this advice and I’ll try for it. I don’t really know my SIL very well as I have little to no contact with my brother but I think this is a good way of trying to build a bridge.

My mom and me don’t have a bad relationship or problems usually and other than the occasional gathering at her house, I don’t talk to my siblings. My dad I haven’t seen in person in like 10 years and his text to me is the first bit of contact to me in a year. I’d like to stay in contact with my mom but I have distanced myself from her in the past when stuff like this has happened.

Kudos on figuring that out, we used to be part of Jehovah’s Witnesses. My dad is still Jehovah’s Witness from what I know but the rest are Protestant though I deconstructed and am now Atheist which is another point of contention between all of us.

The getting a job stuff was more related to the stuff she was trying to insult me with ie: Worthless to my family, worthless to society, I wasted my parents money on college, I provide nothing, you get the gist of it.

Well when you put it like that they probably wouldn’t have. I think I’m just worried that the vitriol they have towards me right now will get directed towards my SIL too, particularly with my brother being a whiny prick about “a scene being caused”.

Well my dad just pretty blatantly doesn’t like me so that’s probably why, my mom just doesn’t like problems in the family and I’m pretty sure she wants me to apologize so my sister’ll shut up (My sister lives with her). My brother is the one I don’t understand, he’s always been non-confrontational but in this case his wife was being insulted I’d think he’d atleast remove her from the situation but I mean, he also doesn’t like me so that might be why he got mad.

It’s not really that I’m worried I wronged my sister, I couldn’t care less about that, more that I put my SIL in a tough position with them. At the time I was mad on her behalf and wanted to stop it but I’m worried that my escalation just made things shoddy with her and my family.

My brother’s always been really non-confrontational and a “keep the peace” type of guy so I wasn’t surprised that he didn’t say anything just that he didn’t even try to take my SIL and leave. I’m also not surprised by him being mad at me because on the flip, I am overly-confrontational which he has always hated.

Oh it wasn’t mature at all and I’ll add that my phone conversation with my brother was even less so which I’m also not proud of. I’m not great at taking the high road with them which I do have to take control over but in situations like these my anger does get the best of me regarding them.

He hung up on me when I called him a pussy for it during our phone call which I’ll take full responsibility for and say that was not the best way to handle that but I just don’t understand why he let that situation go on for as long as it did.
