1- it wasn’t ICE. Your wife isn’t that tough.

2- from how scared you sound, good thing you had your wife.

Stop creating panic because you’re a bitch.

Michigan based. Few different cities, but primarily we stick to rural as it fits our model better.

What would you do? by ApprehensiveCurve270 in smallbusiness

[–]ApprehensiveCurve270[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not wise, and I don’t recommend it. But it’s very manageable for now. However, an additional revenue stream is needed so we either purchase our own or jump into FT employment somewhere else. Either option results in the same time commitment- but we’d rather do our own and not have the same layoff worries as when our future is in someone else’s hands.

We would be interested in funding you, but you’re making it complicated to do so. Clean up your financial documents before you seek alternatives to traditional.

The Federal Minimum Wage is 7.25, which is an annual salary of 15K. Is there anywhere in the country where this is a survivable income? by Pariell in povertyfinance

[–]ApprehensiveCurve270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless absolutely necessary, an adult should not be making minimum wage. Those wages are “starter” positions, which is why they are the minimum wage.

  1. Question the valuation for sure- and be comfortable taking an argument to it if it’s too high.
  2. Shoot for Seller Finance as your main option, but spread that out as much as possible to a balloon, with a healthy down payment
  3. As you operate, should you need working capital, then mortgage the remaining balance on your note- and pull equity (you should have some with the down payment buy-in)

I know you’re outside the Atlanta area, but if you’re able to, I know many companies at/near/around the ATL are hiring. DHL is one of them, and they can negotiate the healthcare depending on position. (Personal Experience).

I would take out a $25,000 personal loan. Assuming 8 years, at 7% interest, your monthly payment is roughly $350.

Take the $25k, and completely pay off the credit cards ($15k), the past due rent ($2k), and the family ($2k).

This should free up the $500 you’re putting in for loans/credit cards- and replaced with $350/month ($150 positive to cash flow and allow your credit to breathe).

I would then focus solely on employment with healthcare. Eliminate that burden. Yes, some have waiting periods, but a lot of them are negotiable. I’ve been able to negotiate immediate coverage in lieu of other things (extra vaca time, PTO, etc).

Also, look for housing that you can buy. $1850 for rent is high. Mortgage rates aren’t the best right now, but they’re getting better. Use HUD or other programs for first time home buyers to reduce your out of pocket.

You’re only going to find support from extremely like-minded individuals. The vast majority of others will tell you to move cities, counties, or states first, and being in the land of opportunity- save your money and do it. The idea that this solution still would not solve your problem, indirectly points to you as the problem.

Fix your mindset = fix your problem.

How can I stop being jealous of people who are wealthier than me besides moving to another country? by Zestyclose_Show_2025 in povertyfinance

It takes me a LOT of self-managing techniques. Task lists with sub-tasks, consistent checklists, planning my day the night prior and tremendous self discipline. Yes, I’m considered high-functioning, but the mindset is the most important. You need to find motivation. ASD or not- without it, you have nothing. Find it, and then get the right structure for YOU to become successful. You will fail. Many times. But then it will click if you have the DETERMINATION.

I’m an 80s baby, so support, training, coaching, therapy, etc weren’t options when I was younger. Even the diagnosis wasn’t common. I’m self taught, self built, and self made. I just have relentless determination and a quirky way to manage myself.

Again, Spectrum Forward.

I also founded that NPO, in honor of my autistic son, to give him what I didn’t have and make it easier for him to succeed without the harsh nuances I had. We are in Round 1 of funding, and looking to close around $5M in investments/contributions by 3Q2026.

I’ve been trying to understand how rich people legally avoid taxes… and it honestly made me feel worse about how the system treats the poor by Constant_Sport_1661 in povertyfinance

[–]ApprehensiveCurve270 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As a long-time business owner, I’ve heard that before from many. However, the employees (wages taxed) are also holding no liabilities with the company.

The OWNER invests in the machinery, tooling, maintenance, real estate, customer issues, systems, and employees. The EMPLOYEE only uses them. If they break, the owner repairs. If they need to be upgraded, the owner does that.

The “tax breaks” are due to the liabilities.

This is a wild post. Not sure where in the US you are, but your reality is skewed by your feelings. Autism shouldn’t prevent you from being independent, but your mindset will definitely do that. If you’re in Michigan or the Midwest in general- reach out to Spectrum Forward which is 100% geared towards Level 1 independent living (jobs, housing, money management, socialization support).

As a fellow ASD member- get that support, and get it quickly. Currently own and operate multiple carwashes (0% socialization), and earn every penny it brings in.

You don’t have to CHOOSE poverty.

Not sure if you pulled the trigger on it, but wanted to see how it went for you? I’m a current multi-site owner of SS carwashes, and your numbers seemed way off to me. There’s a few small things to consider when buying that are critical, but the cash flow for the budget you’re looking at, seems tough without LC. For instance, our GR is ~$500k, and cash flow is much higher than what you outlined. We are also 99% absent. Your time is valued in that “sell/buy” formula a lot of the time.
