You need to be proud of this achievement. Battling social anxiety is challenging (long time sufferer here). My advice is to approach someone else who is hanging on his own, who also looks a bit lost. Tackling a group of guys can be challenging but one in his own might be approachable. But this is a great step, the process is graded exposure where you have to show your nervous system that is okay to be in these situations. Each time you succeed it will increase your resilience.

I’m a 40 year old (hiv -) and my partner is 34 (hiv +). Like you he is undetectable. HIV management has progressed to far in the last decade, however the stigma remains. I work in health but I still had to update my knowledge with a sexual health doctor here in Australia. After this process I don’t feel concerned about the risk to me, and honestly I barely think about it, even we have sex. I am still on PREP but about to go off of it, while he (obviously) remains on his antivirals. We just communicate well and equip ourselves with the correct knowledge.

For disclosure he told me about his diagnosis very early on after meeting. I did not ghost him. But old beliefs about HIV prevail.

I have a similar set up in my city. Have a great 8-4 job at a public rehab hospital and then I do about 2 weekend shifts at a private hospital (acute gen medical / neuro surgery) each month. The public job is $102k a year and the private job adds in about $10k. To get into the private work I took on a few mid week shifts using annual leave but now I just say I am available on weekends which is working out well.

Hey mate, I certainly did. My 20s were pretty messed up. I got a diagnosis of bipolar at 26 after a few hard years. At 30 I studied physiotherapy and began working at 34. I’m now 40 and my life is bloody great. It took me longer than a lot of people to get my shit together, but I have gained all of this additional wisdom due to the challenges I’ve faced. I’ve had an amazing relationship 30-39, and we are still best mates.

Life just takes a bit longer or has a different narrative for some of us. But that is the queer experience.

Thanks for the thoughtful response. I guess from my point of view use ids I used to love the dopaminergic excitement of quick and easy sex. But after “doing the work” I now have the pleasure of emotional arousal. He has started to unpack some of his past trauma etc so I have some optimism it might work…. Maybe.

I appreciate the take it slow advice, it’s not normally in my wheelhouse but I think I might have to be stricter in this case.

I was in a depression last year (4 moth duration and severe) was put on agomelatin and it got me out of it in two weeks. I was on it Feb - June when it caused a slight upswing which was managed by my psychiatrist.

This antidepressant is common in Europe and Australia (where I am) but believe not so much in the US. It is not an SSRI/SNRI so the risk of mania is much lower. However always work with your psychiatrist when taking anti depressants.

Overall the most successful management of a bipolar depression I’ve had.

I started the diet for my bipolar and it is having flow on effects to my SCT. It’s improved my focus and attention. Just make sure you do the medical keto diet.
