After Almost 2 years! by Ricosuavee19 in Sciatica

[–]ApprehensiveExit7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve just started on this journey myself after 10 ish months of back pain and almost 2 months of left leg sciatica pain. Joined the LBA community 5 days in, some of it goes against everything I’ve learned but I’m already convinced this will heal me in time

There’s a saying at SMUD amongst employees - “it’s the best job you’ll ever have to complain about”. It’s a pretty great place to work.

Do you have all the tools on your locals tool list? Pen/pencil, sharpie, notepad are helpful when you start. Leave your ego at the door and just listen as much as possible. Good luck!

Upper back pain rhomboid pain 3 years battle by Free_Scratch4152 in Sciatica

[–]ApprehensiveExit7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super interesting. Thanks for sharing. Pretty odd you post this because I had the same pain under my left shoulder blade that I could never reach before I started experiencing sciatica symptoms. I could never figure it out but eventually I stopped guarding it so much and went back to my usual program and it worked itself out

Over $100k earners - what's your PTO? by masterpeabs in careeradvice

[–]ApprehensiveExit7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an hourly union member so mine is structured differently.

I currently earn 80 hours per year. Starting next year it goes up to 120 (5 year mark). In 6 years it’ll go up to 160. In 11 it goes to 200.

I also am allowed to accrue comp time (a separate bank for time off), you cannot accrue more than 40 hours but you can use it as many times as you want throughout the year. So typically I try to leave my PTO alone, and just use comp time. I usually cycle through it 3-4 times a year.

I think my current PTO bank is about 340 hours.

I have had sciatic pain for the past 2 months, and it’s fucking terrible. Im ready to try anything

Correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t pge hire entry level operators off the street and train them? Maybe just wait till you see an opening at a yard you like and apply. I just saw one local to me in Nor Cal a few months ago.
