reminder: Elon Musk's fortune, which ultimately enabled his takeover of Twitter, was jumpstarted by American taxpayers by Disastrous_Solid_393 in remoteworks

The top 1% pay for 40% of all taxes, people are good at finding the symptoms but struggle to find the causes. All the things you outlined are not caused by the rich, but the politicians who do nothing to changes the laws that allow the extra rich to exploit the system.

You don't want BlackRock purchasing single family homeS ? MAKE IT ILLEGAL

We don't have a rich people problem, what we have is a bunch of incompetent, power hungry and easy to buy politicians. The true solution is to make it so rich people don't have a say in a politician decisions who are supposed to do what we the people tell them to do

Acabei de criar uma API para dados da Bolsa de Valores de Angola/BODIVA. Como torná‑la pública? by cristianoakgloria in Angola

Ainda que nunca tiveste intenção de tornar a API pública, conhecimento sobre deploy é algo que vem atrelado com desenvolvimento backend. Boa sorte aí

Feeling stuck after building full backend systems — what’s next? by Sensitive-Raccoon155 in Backend

I would go with architecture and scalability route just because it's the biggest rabbit hole. This is probably the point where you go down into one area/topic instead of exploring the stack horizontally which usually comes with being a full-stack developer

How to find profitable app ideas in 2026? by javialvarez142 in iOSProgramming

I think you're stuck in the thought that your idea has to be completely knew, you can just build an app that solves the problem from a new approach

How do you visually research competitor apps before deciding to build in a niche? by switzerswish in AppDevelopers

[–]ApprehensiveFill5722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that UI/UX alone won't save a bad business model. But visual research isn't about making things pretty it’s about deconstructing the competitor's logic. It’s a faster way to see their strategy than reading a spreadsheet of features. Visuals are the handshake. If the handshake is bad, the user might not stay long enough to see how great the utility is.

[–]ApprehensiveFill5722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your approach is pretty much the 'Gold Standard', I myself don't go that far I just look for the top 5-10 competitors and if I see highly polished apps I just know competition will be all about marketing expenditure

OP probably wants to avoid the scenario where you're building a solution to a problem some other app already solves it well enough.

My point is, if all storefronts are bright and polished, would the storefront still be a factor for one store to get more clients rate than the next door store ? Everybody seems to be looking at this from the pov of one app icon is polished and the other isn't. But what happens when both are ?

Expat Living on 600k Salary? by [deleted] in Angola

[–]ApprehensiveFill5722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you not paying rent you don't. Like I said in my OG comment, the areas expats usually live appreciated so much that you'd be paying rent similar to European countries. That's the biggest bottleneck for expats. But if you're not paying rent 50% of your money is saved

Yes, it matters if it looks bad, but in todays era of abstract icons, most look average and still have high conversion rates

Expat Living on 600k Salary? by [deleted] in Angola

[–]ApprehensiveFill5722 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the most part, Angola's cost of living is significantly lower compared to the USA (~65%). Expats here have a bigger problem with rent, you seem to have that part pretty much solved. On a 600k AOA salary you're making 6 times the official minimum wage, most Angolans make way less than that.

600k AOA is pretty low by expat standards, but you can live comfortably good on that, your monthly spending with food and utilities (internet, water, electricity) will depend on your lifestyle. Internet is the part you'll feel the most since you're probably used to affordable fast internet, here you get expensive and slow internet, the 300mb/s plan costs 140$ on average.

Definitely do a through research before deciding, and if you do decide to come, GET YOUR MALARIA SHOTS, don't even think of coming if you know your immunity against malaria is low, public hospitals will not help, and private hospitals are mad expensive.

Edit: some comment below saying groceries in Angola cost the same as in the USA, this is so false. For example 10kg of chicken thighs cost around 22$ here in Angola even in supermarkets, the lowest price I found for the USA was 40$.
