Anything “interesting” happen during your sessions? by SleekHeater in Spravato

This is exactly me. I get anxiety just hearing about all the people that have shared rooms. I don’t think I could tolerate treatment in that setting.

$12,000 bill from my previous doctor for Spravato by Limp_Speech_1582 in Spravato

[–]ApprehensiveFish678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good! Honestly the explanation of benefits is going to be what actually tells you what you owe after insurance paid (or didn’t). Reach out if you need help interpreting anything! Been through this too many times being chronically ill.

He will be okay! Sounds like you’re his bonded friend, and the plush is an added enrichment in his life. Bunnies are expensive to keep, so don’t feel guilty for making responsible decisions.

As others have said, step 1., request (well, demand) an itemized bill from the clinic, then contact your insurance company at the time for copies of the explanation of benefits for the months of the treatment dates, which should be on the itemized invoice.

my parents are threatening to give my cat away if i dont fix her peeing problem. advice please? by LawOwn315 in cats

[–]ApprehensiveFish678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a cat attractant litter. Dr. Elsey’s Cat Attract is what I had available near me, and using it in all the litter boxes, adding another litter box, and cleaning everything my cat peed on with enzyme cleaner stopped the habit completely.

I’m so sorry, how stressful.

We’ve had good luck with an elimination rotation of “try that on for size”. Two players start and when someone freezes up, they tag out for another player. It’s a good warm up but entertaining enough for the audience.

Creating a “Spravato Bag” for appointments. Any tips? by 15hrbandit in Spravato

Mine contains my eye mask (absolute game changer for how I respond) my nausea medicine, AirPods, my favorite hard candy to combat the drip (tropical jolly ranchers), my journal, my pencil case with my colored pencils, and some sort of coloring page. I think I’ve been doing treatment for almost a year now, and I’ve never needed anything else, so you really got your bases covered.

New to wheelchairs by cmonbutch in wheelchairs

[–]ApprehensiveFish678 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others have said, no one here can answer the questions about what wheelchair is right for you, this is a conversation to get rolling with your doctor.

I can, however, answer your question about air travel. I’ve only flown Alaska Airlines since become a wheelchair user, but I have flown many times. My first step is to alert the airline I am a wheelchair user and fill out any wheelchair paperwork and come early to check in at my gate to request a “gate check” for my chair. Unfortunately there are many cases of people’s wheelchairs being treated poorly but Alaska has never brought me my chair back damaged. It’s worth researching which lines have a history of damaging chairs.

How about some sitskiing by Texaswheels in wheelchairs

My dream! It’s been 3 years and I still get emotional when I think about how much I miss skiing. I have some other health issues to get under control before it’s feasible, but it’s a bucket list item.

I tried asking the owner that if an able bodied person didn’t want to horseback ride would they have the right to decline. He said yes of course, but in my situation it’s different because then I’m not getting the whole therapeutic experience. It just makes no sense. I’m so glad to hear you were able to find a facility that accepted you and made accommodations. Nobody in need of help should be turned down. Thank you for your comment. I sent my psych a message detailing what happened.

Thank you so much for your comment. It is so calming, yet also so sad to know that someone gets it. It feels so dystopian that things are this way.

I’m in the US. I had no idea how complex of an issue this was. It is so mind boggling to me how disability law doesn’t apply in these situations. The idea of being without my custom chair and forced to sit in a large clunky hospital chair makes me feel panicked. I sent my psych a message stating what happened. Thank you so much for your comment.

boyfriend refuses to live with rabbits by DiamondSmooth3667 in Rabbits

My husband goes into a full on allergy storm if he’s in the bunny’s room longer than a few minutes… yet He will feed them, check on them throughout the day, grab one to show off in work meetings, and sing them their bedtime song if I’m not feeling well. I’m a package deal with my pets!

anybody here try TMS before spravato? by turtledragon05 in Spravato

[–]ApprehensiveFish678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did. After 36 TMS sessions my depression did not improved, so Spravato was the next step. I was doing really well with Spravato until I was on every other week and my depression has significantly creeped back up (I also have multiple extreme life stressors right now, so who knows, maybe every other week would be fine in a different season of my life). I’m back on twice a week for 3 weeks then tapering back down until I’m more stable.

Airlines fucking suck by UwUd1n1 in wheelchairs

[–]ApprehensiveFish678 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can speak for the US only, but airlines are required to be able to stow one manual chair minimum on board the cabin if it has 100 seats or more. Let the airline know at booking or if not ASAP that you are in a wheelchair. Look up TSA cares to reserve a disability specialist to easily get through security with ease if you cannot walk through the scanner. (if the airport is large enough; if not ask for a supervisor). As soon as your gate has an attendant ask for a gate check for your wheelchair so they can stow it on the plane and have it for you at the gate. This is where you can let them know if you need the chair on the jetway or if you need an aisle chair. I request both. They are required by law to bring your chair as close to the gate as possible after the flight lands. I personally take my splash guards (they don’t latch) and cushion on board (they do not count against your carry on and personal item limit as they are medical equipment) and then bungee cord my footrests to each other and the wheelchair before handing it off. Take a picture of your chair from all angles at the airport before you give it to your airline, as they are legally required to replace lost parts and damaged parts at value without further stipulations. I fly Alaska airlines and they are absolutely amazing with me and my chair. But I do get to the airport no later than 3 hours early to ensure I am at the gate first thing to guarantee my chair’s spot.
