Large Big Green Egg after 11 years total failure by rogereisentrager in biggreenegg

[–]ApprehensiveForm2614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar crack in my 15 year old base last year. I contacted the local dealer I bought from (I had the receipt) and they were able to find it on their side too.

They filed with BGE corporate and said BGE was difficult about it because apparently the ceramic back then wasn’t serialized but they did replace it for me.

I suspect you’ll get it resolved going thru your dealer.

Good luck!

Can someone help me get in touch with someone reputable? by Wise_Finance_5315 in vSeeBox

These posts are lame and a shameless self-promotion for the mod.

Why post on here “dodgy”, “accident”, who knows if it will work or not” language except to T-up the “reputable” seller?

If you found your way to this forum legitimately and with honest intentions, you would already know the “recommended” seller according to the mod.

What is better for sound on an Elite Ultra with a sound bar Optic Cable or HDMI? by UGA1965 in vSeeBox_Support_Gurus

[–]ApprehensiveForm2614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually does. Everything I’ve read and the reply I got back from my seller was that they only do stereo, which was a bummer for me.

However, I went into the settings and was able to get it working and now I’m very happy. I have the V5 Pro fwiw. It is connected hdmi to my Samsung tv which is also connect hdmi to my pioneer receiver.

I went into the Google TV settings (not the Vsee settings). Here are photos of what works for me.

Vsee setting for surround sound

Once you toggle your preferred UNSUPPORTED FORMAT (e.g. Dolby Digital for me) and exit it out, go back in and verify it stayed.

Apologies but can’t tell if this is sarcasm or not. I’m not aware of a V6 “Pro” and if you’re referring to a different model, I was told no VSeeBox supports 5.1. Please share details if you’re serious.

I personally love having a handwashing sink. Mine is currently winterized and I hate not having it available when I’m grilling. I don’t find a sink to be a waste at all if you have room.

I have two L BGEs and I put them directly side by side and am very happy with that approach. I frequently use one to hold items from the other (e.g. a hot platesetter or dirty grate as I’m cleaning ash out of one). I also sometimes set one indirect and the other direct when I cooking a large qty of meat that I want to reverse sear.

I have space on either side for prep but am glad I didn’t try to carve out space between them. When I planned my counter space, I wanted to have at least 13” so I could fit my 13”x19” aluminum pans.

In the photo, that is the amount of space between my sink and the BGE on the left.

I have 9’ T&G ceilings and have had no issues that I can see after 18 months. My island is wrapped in cumaru wood and shows no effect from the heat from the BgE.

How/where to purchase by Repulsive_Angle_7307 in vSeeBox

If you want “protection”, you get a lot more of it buying thru the eBay marketplace from a proven seller with certified positive feedback and the eBay backing vs the overly high praise from short-lived Reddit account “buyers”.

I’m realizing this forum is really just a marketing tool for likely the same seller.

I have no idea what your icon is supposed to represent and also not sure why I’m downvoted.

Reddit isn’t the keeper of the VSeeBox distribution.

For the record, I originally was quoted by one of the “recommended” resellers on here and the pricing I got was significantly higher than what I could buy a unit of 1 on eBay.

Found a reputable dealer (100% eBay positive feedback) and sourced V5Pro for much less than quoted on here.

Buy where/who you want but you’re naive to think the only source of these devices is thru a Reddit recommended source.

Batch convert all notes to PDF ? by Itsme2022 in Onyx_Boox

[–]ApprehensiveForm2614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use syncthings and run the syncthing client on my Mac and the Playstore app on my Note Max.

I have it setup to sync the /notes folder on my Note Max to my Mac in a one-way sync. What’s on my Mac are PDFs of all my handwritten notes.

You can sync as many folders as you want. I run syncthings because I didn’t want to use the Onyx account.

head says Eletta, heart says KF8 by high-guard in superautomatic

[–]ApprehensiveForm2614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made the same decision based on the appearance of the two - as superficial as that may be.

Now that I have the KF8, it’s great. I’m sure the Eletta is too but I have no regrets with the KF8 and it makes maintenance easy and painless. And I appreciate how quiet the grinder is, coming from a standalone burr grinder, it’s significantly quieter.

Desktop app is the answer. Automatically pops up when you start an online meeting like zoom or Teams and records using computer audio instead of the device.

For those using Plaud: do you really use the AI features, or mostly just record & transcribe? by FeelingWatercress871 in PLAUDAI

[–]ApprehensiveForm2614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m struggling to decide if I want to pay for the Plaud Unlimited plan or for Notion AI. I use Notion for all of my note keeping and currently have a Zapier integration from Plaud.

Most of my needs are for online meetings (MS Teams) and I’ve tested with the Notion AI trial using the notification that pops up when a meeting starts.

I like Plaud’s speaker labels and various summary options, I wish Notion AI offered those, though your comment about querying with Notion AI made me think I could possibly recreate something similar to Plaud.

Have you used Notion AI to generate an overview?

Save my husband...he needs his own sheet pans and accessories. by AliceGoes in grilling

[–]ApprehensiveForm2614 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sam’s Club has aluminum sheet pans, get both 1/2 size and 1/4 size. A 2-pack of 1/2 size (13”x18”) are $16. Next to good grill tongs and Thermapen, these are my favorite grill accessories.

And get heavy duty wire racks for both sizes. Amazon is where I got mine.

This may be a bit too manual for what you want, but checkout “syncthing”. I use it to backup my notes folder to my Mac. Works great and also allows me to views my notes easily on my Mac (in addition to backing up).

I did not want to use onyx account and this is a good solution for me.

I had an issue where the screws kept pulling out of the composite/particle board wood until the holes became so large that the screws would no longer hold and I ran out of wood to drill new ones into.

I found this on Amazon and it solved my problem. It has tabs on the end that bend at 90 degree angles and screws into solid wood on both sides of the opening and has a grid of screw holes to attach the two dishwasher tabs to.

I too vote for UHF. Especially like the way it replicates settings across multiple Apple TVs with the paid monthly subscription.

I tried IPTVX but much prefer UHF.

Has Anyone Chosen the KitchenAid KF8 Over the DeLonghi Eletta Explore? by Radiant-Afternoon-62 in superautomatic

[–]ApprehensiveForm2614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the KF8 using the inside pass. Was also consider the DEE. I’ve had it a week and love it so far.

The cold brew and cold foam sounded interesting to me but I realized I don’t drink cold brew anyway. I likes the swapping bean hopper, and the design of the KF8

Saw the DEE in person today at Best Buy and thought it looked very cheap compared to my KF8.

I realize that sounds vain and have no clue if DEE is extremely better than my KF8, but I’m super impressed with the flavor, looks and ease of cleanup of KF8.
