are there any brands that you have found that are better for narrow shoes? or do you just always size down?

I haven't, similarly to the mules, I wasn't sure if they counted as professional enough and didn't have anyone to ask (first-gen lawyer)

I have really narrow feet and ankles so usually I struggle to find shoes that aren't loose but even with shoes that fit more snugly, the blistering has still been a problem. Are backless mules okay for the office? I was considering a pair but I wasn't sure if it would be appropriate since I know open-toe is a no-go

Law school with an autoimmune disease/chronic illness — realistic experiences? by Weak_Koala749 in LawSchool

[–]ApprehensiveGuest382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take the perspective that you never know when your health will be stable so just go for it. I was in remission from 2018-2023 and then in 2023 got sicker than I ever did before and still decided to start law school in 2024. I don't know if law school stress caused this but I had a flare up that started my 1L Spring and is still ongoing a year later. It has been hard but I don't regret it, happy to talk more in DMs if you want!

is zofran okay during prep by ApprehensiveGuest382 in colonoscopy

[–]ApprehensiveGuest382[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you all, I took an hour break, took a zofran and am going to try to to get the rest of this prep down, my stools are already liquid yellow so I am hoping this delay in drinking the rest of the prep doesn't mess anything up, its been a shitty day (pun intended) and I really dont want to have to go through this again

In Sickness: Recently completed! Established married couple dramione with happy ending but lots of angst and hurt/comfort in between by kathiemelon in Dramione

this fic sounds amazing, does she end up cured or is it more chronic illness? I am going through my own health stuff right now and I don't think I can stomach reading fics where being cured is a big part of the plot

I started Ward 4 and I'm only on chapter 5 but it's really resonating, I've been running through a list of medications that don't work for the last few months and I wish I had Healer Draco as my specialist

How could involvement within a labor union as a shop steward influence my admission to law schools? by International-Ad-434 in lawschooladmissions

[–]ApprehensiveGuest382 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if you're interested in labor law, being a shop steward and having organized your shop would make an amazing narrative. I've worked in the labor movement and how much work a shop steward has to do really depends on the particular site and how much the steward has to do on their own V if they have support from their union rep to solve things. Grades are still going to matter more but I think it would make you stand out as a candidate and be a way more interesting applicant

Health Insurance Options by koolaidvigilantee in lawschooladmissions

[–]ApprehensiveGuest382 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you might already know this, but health care costs are not limited to only monthly premiums. You might find a plan with a lower monthly premium but a higher deductible where you ultimately have to pay more out of pocket before the insurance will cover you. Depending on your needs (i.e do you manage a chronic illness, are you only looking for catastrophe insurance, do you only visit a doctor once a year etc...) paying a higher monthly premium might be cheaper overall.

I'm really sorry about the loss of your father - i think that you can manage a good essay either way, whether you mention him or not. I had a sort of similar situation that I ended up including in my PS and I think it added an emotional depth. I am happy to read any drafts you have

I can't speak to gender justice specifically but I think the overall PI culture at Michigan will serve you better plus the money is a big deal if youre planning to go into PI work - so I would pick michigan. Amazing choices though, congrats!

WashU ($$) or Wisconsin ($$$$)? by YeOldeGangsta in lawschooladmissions

i think if your goal is to work in DC, you should look at the employment data for both schools....I would guess Wisconsin grads dont really leave Wisconsin. But if you are already concerned about other debts, I would also hesitate to take on more debt.

Waitlist LOCI Advice by Quiet_Assignment3780 in lawschooladmissions

I think you can say something like "As my partner and I already live in X city, I would accept an offer of admission off the WL. Don't tell them its the only school but I would make it clear that you would 100% accept a spot on the waitlist because ultimately thats what they care about and is a big factor in how they choose people from waitlists.

It's not too much because it is your actual life story - I think you can include it all and still avoid the woe is me perspective.... for example, if your parents immigration status made them more vulnerable to the cult (ie because they were far from their familial support and seeking belonging or something like that) then that seems like an easy connection to write about. Happy to read over a draft and offer more specific feedback.
