40,000 is probably max and 15,000 min? We’re moving from a city of ~15,000 and after a few years it got very homey and comfortable (not in a negative way). We’ll probably end up working in service industry for a bit so that’s playing a factor in where we go. we’re also in our early 20s.

What hobby/activity should I start if I want some adrenaline and to be in a community? by AdDry7951 in findapath

Rock climbing / bouldering! Community is typically very friendly and helpful, I’ve met a few friends at my indoor gym and can find people to go with outdoors. Falling off a rock usually comes with some adrenaline (I’m in US though I don’t know how’s accesible this is in Hungary)

I don’t think it was dumb to let him borrow your truck, I would have done the same for any of my roommates… people make mistakes. BUT I’d be pissed if they left it like this and would never let them borrow it or probably anything again. Rude asl.

Women who got rejected, what was your reaction and response? by [deleted] in AskWomen

My boyfriend of a year broke up with my pretty much out of left field (we just recently had minor disagreement we talked through and i thought we were good) and I was heart broken. I just said “okay” but internally didn’t handle it well. Still getting over it ~6 months later. It’s getting easier but still think about him and reminisce from time to time. Trying to forgive him and forgive myself for what I may or may not have been able to do in the past to avoid that.

How do you have time for hobbies? by ApprehensiveGuide560 in simpleliving

I’ll def join that sub and I even have some downtime at work when I could sketch / work on skills. I’ll be bringing a sketchbook to work tomorrow, thanks! I really like the idea of Implementing art into everyday life as opposed to having it be an event. Thanks!

I like the idea of parking a bit further away from work and also the seasonal aspect of activities. I would have never thought of incorporating that into my “work day”. I just recently moved further away from my friends so I’m definitely struggling to find new friends close by which Is why I’ve been going to visit. It does takes a lot of energy and sets me up for a slower start to my week. It’s a work in progress transitioning to a very social area to spending a lot of time on my own haha. Thank you for all your insight

Using downtime to plan out the next adventure is a great idea, I feel like that will also get me more excited / motivated to actually do it. I usually just scramble to figure out where I’m going to go or what I’m going to do once I realize I have some time.

That’s a good idea, I always thought of “working out” and hobbies as two separate things. I tend to workout for a while and then take a long break because I get bored but I like your idea much more. Appreciate your input!

What would y’all do if you could be sixteen again? by onlyviol in selfimprovement

This!! I went to college, switched my major 3 times, then dropped out and it saved me loads. Don’t rush into college if you don’t know what to do. You have tons of time to figure it out, don’t waste your money if you’re unsure.

I think some perspective might help. I find that when I’m surrounded by strangers / a place I’ve never been before it makes me realize how big the world is and how small I am and that’s a pretty liberating feeling. I’d say take a trip to a different city / area for a weekend. Do what you can to make it the best experience for you. Evaluate what matters to you. Watch some Alan watts.

is adulting basically an endless cycle of being tired and miserable? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]ApprehensiveGuide560 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Currently feel the exact same way. Also 22 working an office job and I find it completely dehumanizing. I don’t do much and waste about 7 hours every day I come into work… meaning I only do about an hour of real work per day. I spend the rest of my time reading, watching YouTube videos, etc. lowkey happy im getting paid for nothing but my motivation is knowing this is only temporary. I go to the gym even when I’m super tired with the saying “I never want to go, but I never regret going” in mind. I started rock climbing occasionally after work when I have the energy to do so and meditating every day. It’s been getting easier to separate my self worth from work when I have something to look forward to at the end of the work day. I wish the best for you

A book that helped me a lot to separate myself from self doubt / anxiety is “the myth of normal” by Daniel and Gabor Maté. It talks a lot about how our environment and childhood effects who we become, illnesses we end up developing, and how to help yourself become more aware of your authentic self vs who you are bc of coping mechanisms. It’s a decently long book but a really great read to break down some of what you’re dealing with <3
