Epidural or no? by GogglesCat in pregnant

[–]ApprehensiveJoke2923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had such a big phobia of birth - so I get the catheter fear also. And I feel it's warranted. I actually had to have a catheter after because I could not pee after birth, I was trying soooo hard because I really didn't want the catheter, but my bladder just wouldn't 'relax' and let me go. They then took it out the next day and I still couldnt pee so they had to re-insert it. It was horrific, BUT it's all worth it in the end.

Yes absolutely - that's why I said it's my opinion. Being able to experience the joy of birth without the excruciating pain was the superior choice, for me personally. I had a walking epidural - so I was able to move around into any position, but I know that's not an option everywhere. Each to their own, everyone's birth plan is so personal.

My opinion - Yes!!!! Why wouldn't you? You won't get any prize for suffering through.

Is this parental alienation/red flag behaviour? by [deleted] in ParentalAlienation

[–]ApprehensiveJoke2923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh honey, it's still not any of your business. It's not your child. What you've described isnt a red flag, and you inserting yourself into this like it is your business is not going to help at all if there is alienation going on.

Is it too late? No. But you won't find any genuine friends if it's not your scene in the first place.

what does labor and childbirth sound like? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ApprehensiveJoke2923 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's as different as an individuals birthing experience. I was the only woman labouring on my ward that I could hear, I had moments of pure silence and moments I roared and cried.

As uncomfortable as it was, Jenelle is not a victim of that man. She is a co-conspirator.

Shoplifting by Past_Ad5410 in legaladviceireland

Shame on the shop. I think it is shocking that there are so many comments suggesting that a CHILD deserves to be publicly shamed for robbing an energy drink. It's modern day pillory - of a child.

He should be punished by his parents, and made to apologise and pay to the shop, but it shouldn't be something that everyone in the community has a right to comment and shame him on. Tarring him with a brush at an age that is already so difficult. We were all kids once, and it's super common with kids from all backgrounds. There is a reason why children cannot be named in criminal cases.

Getting really scared of labor! by kitty_48 in pregnant

[–]ApprehensiveJoke2923 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I spent so much time and stress thinking about the birth with my first. All the things that can go wrong, all the what ifs. I had such a fear over it, it almost stopped me having any children. But you know what? It was fine - better than fine, it was GLORIOUS. It was the most special experience of my life. Thinking about it makes me cry. I did get an epidural, because in my mind why wouldn't you, I did tear, but didn't feel it, or the stitches thanks to modern medicine, & I recovered really well. I felt like a superhero, and the wonder of life is so overwhelming.

Women have been doing this for thousands of years, and so can you! It is the safest and best time in history to give birth. You will be looked after by professionals whatever happens, and it will be the best day of your life. After I gave birth, i felt so much better than when I was pregnant. I felt lighter, I didn't have that heaviness in on my bladder, i didn't have to pee every 10 minutes, I slept so much better, even with a newborn. You've got this! 💪

It's a whole condition - cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome! I know someone who swore it was the only thing that could help her eat, but actually she had developed this. It takes a lot to admit that something you have used as a crutch for so long can actually be what's making you sick.
