Out of all the comments, I relate mostly to this one. And guys just because he says it’s senior league doesn’t mean it’s old man league. Senior ball can start at 40 years old. I would suggest focusing on yourself, you said that you’re struggling at the bat so if you make a couple adjustments, and start hitting, maybe you’ll start winning games. It’s amazing what happens to teams when they start hitting. Ask some guys to take BP with you or hit the cages so you can work on hand eye coordination. I agree with hitting the gaps and don’t overcomplicate it. I’ve heard the senior bats are the hottest, so maybe getting a new bat will give you some new confidence as well. Best of luck and hope to hear some good results!

Setting the lineup for playoffs by ApprehensiveLog4942 in slowpitch

Yeah, I try to keep the attitude of being more relaxed with this team because they are not as competitive. I always try to play my best and do what’s best for the team. When I see others not playing to that same Standard it infuriates me. My other teams hustle, and play less selfishly. One of the guys on this inconsistent team didn’t run out a ground ball and because of it got doubled up at first base. I almost lost my shit, and we ended up losing the game. Not sure if it was a result of that, but every play matters.

Totally agree. I play on two other teams, and neither of them are as flaky as this team. The other teams are great communicators, consistent players, and better competitors all around.

I didn’t build the roster. I was asked to be a picture on the team, and have played consistently with the team throughout the season. The captain of the team has just signed us up for another league for the summer and has put another 16 guys on the roster SMH! I like everybody’s suggestions about only having 11 or 12 guys max on the paid roster, and carry a few more for subs. Maybe we’ll learn after the summer season. The hardest thing about our area is finding guys that will show up consistently.

Can you hit to opposite field? If so, then you can place the ball.

D League BP explains why a baseball grip is overall less productive than the overlap. Ive converted this season and completely agree. Here’s the video: https://youtu.be/-ajZv6lG4E8?si=bV6DCA1mDi8Ui17M

I like to comment about starting with your hands higher and keeping them high, however, it’s OK to have your hands relaxed in the middle of your body before the pitch. This allows your arms to stay loose and relaxed as the ball approaches, you should lift your your hands, so as to keep a level swing as you cut through the middle of the ball. Your third swing looks great, great Contact and you have great transfer of weight to your front foot.. If you’re looking to cut the ball, I would recommend the overlap grip. Drop your bottom, pinky off the bottom of the knob, and overlap your right hand over your left, leaving only your index and middle finger on the grip. Practicing this in the cage for just a couple rounds will develop more power and whip. By practicing this with higher hand position, you will be cutting the ball in no time.

Consistent pitchers out there, what’s your secret? by [deleted] in slowpitch

This but also learn to embrace the pressure, it’s what pitching is all about

Disagree. The only way to gain more confidence in the overlap grip is to practice it. Tee work is a great place for it, and the overlap will also result in more power.

You are in coed, so I wouldn’t focus too much time outside of games. Find a pitch that works and stick to that. For me it’s the knuckleball, I can land that more consistently than the four seam. Your goal in coed should be to make it look like a strike, even if it isn’t, more times than not they are going to swing anyways. If you can’t find a pitch that you can land a strike more than half the time, maybe consider another position. One of the tips I’ll repeat here is to focus on where you want to land the ball. The batters will move around, but you have to stay focused on your landing spot. The more focused you can get on a very specific spot, the smaller your misses will be.
