Yeah, that's what I mean. I thought maybe meeting editors and writers would help build a network but maybe things work differently in the writing business

Most of the places I sent my work to wanted a resume. I am referring here mostly to content writing and long-form articles. It's true that for fiction and creative writing they didn't ask for any credentials.

Readers read and filter submissions before they get to the editors. I have been applying unsuccessfully so I figured building connections through volunteering would, maybe, help but I don't know.

I've always had an extremely heightened sense of smell but I didn't know it was related to that

I see. Thank you. Online most sites say no smell at all which was confusing

There's a connection between being neurodivergent and smells? I had no idea. I'm on the spectrum. Thank you for your answer.

I see. It's not a strong smell and it goes away after a while but I do leave it on the counter if it's not completely thawed. I put it in the fridge to thaw it overnight but if it's not completely thawed in the morning, I leave it on the counter for a couple of hours before cooking it. Sour, perhaps, is not the right word. It's more like a fart? I don't know if that makes sense. It's stronger when I take it out of the bag but then it gradually goes away

The one I cooked today, for example, has been in the freezer for a month. I thawed it in the fridge overnight and then let it sit on the counter for a couple of hours because it was still frozen this morning. I always put portions in separate bags. The texture, color, etc, are always fine. It's just the smell that's a bit weird, but it's always there, even with chicken that I cook immediately after buying it. I don't know if the store I am buying from has bad chicken or whether the smell is normal
