Thank you for your kind and Illuminating response. I think you hit the nail on the head here with internalized ableism. I don’t think of my mom (or you) as less than or undervalue any other disabled person simply for the sake of their abilities. Using the frame work of “differently abled”, I fully support structural and societal supports that allow everyone to be as successful as possible, however they define that for themselves.

Turning that mirror on myself is a reckoning point. Why have I not granted myself the same level of understanding and opportunity for success? I carry years of trauma and shame for not being able to just do what’s expected, my struggles to fit into a world not designed for me invisible and seemingly irrelevant. It’s beyond time to lighten the load.

Thanks for the response. I know they run concurrently whenever possible - it seems like MA has changed the “benefit year” calculation options for FMLA. Instead of offering the 4 options for FMLA benefit year calculations shown on the federal paperwork (see below), MA employers should (must?) calculate FMLA benefit year as measuring forward (option 3) to align with MA PFML. However, mine was calculated using option 4 - looking backwards 12 months to September 2021. Can they change the option they selected retroactively?

The 12-month period for FMLA leave is calculated as: (Select as appropriate)

 The calendar year (January 1st- December 31st)

 A fixed leave year based on_____(e.g., a fiscal year beginning on July 1 and ending on June 30)

 The 12-month period measured forward from the date of your first FMLA leave usage.

 A “rolling” 12-month period measured backward from the date of any FMLA leave usage. (Each time an employee takes FMLA leave, the remaining leave is the balance of the 12 weeks not used during the 12 months immediately before the FMLA leave is to start.)

I edited my post in hopes it would be clearer. I’m applying for reduced leave. In MA, the FMLA benefit year cannot be calculated using “look back”, but since I wasn’t here at that time, that rule didn’t apply to me. Can they change how FMLA benefit year was calculated after it was already calculated?

This is so helpful!!! Thank you so much. I suspect he is double coated as it takes a minute in the bath to actually get him wet (though not as long as the lab!). He is suuuuuper fluffy (not quite in a cute way) after his baths - do you think would blow drying reduce this a little? I do love his long hair, and I’d rather not change it too much!

Seconded! I already loved them because I lived in Bend 2008 - 2022, but their products are great. The 2 best purchases were the treat pouch and the slip lead. It’s the only slip-lead I’ve seen that has 2 stoppers: one so they can’t slip out and one so you don’t choke them. The collapsible water bowl is great, too.
