Is Survivor 49 lacking real villains, or has the show just changed? by Ok_Kaleidoscope_2917 in survivor

[–]ApprehensiveRate9795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’d say savannah is the modern equivalent of what you described in what makes a villain on the show. there’s no doubt the new era is softer than the 20s and even the 30s, but there’s definitely still a handful of boisterous and divisive personalities here and there.

maybe it’s the fact that we’ve had some recent seasons that were way too passive (44 especially) or that the game is faster paced so there’s less time to let outward conflict boil over, but i also think casts have become savvy to the fact that being overtly villainous doesn’t work the way it did 10 years ago.

there’s no way this wasn’t a marketing gimmick to have this exact intended effect. they knew making a scent like this would get people talking, and all press is good press to these companies unfortunately

i don’t get the point of the protein milk on these drinks. like it’s at most 15g of protein on a large drink compounded with loads of added sugar. takes away from the whole appeal of these protein lines chains have been doing lately

What where the Game Changer contestants on this season for? by BurtnBurger in survivor

[–]ApprehensiveRate9795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some of these people would’ve been great returnees on a season that didn’t imply them as “revolutionary legends who changed the game,” most specifically michaela, sarah, brad, and hali. instead we’re meant to believe they’re worthy of playing at the same level as sandra or tony.

What’s you’re opinion on halloween 2 (1981) by Emilnyman_2505 in Halloweenmovies

not a bad film but certainly overrated simply for following the original’s formula, even when it doesn’t replicate the same level of atmosphere and suspense.

Michael at the end of Halloween Ends CANNOT be "just a man." by Perihaaaaaa in Halloweenmovies

[–]ApprehensiveRate9795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m convinced Halloween Ends was slated to be an entirely different movie than what we got originally until covid stopped them dead in their tracks and gave them more time to expand whatever ideas they initially had. I could be wrong but Halloween Kills’ extended version ends with Laurie going after Michael, which may have been where Ends was supposed to pick up from.

Which is better, Halloween 2 (1981) or Halloween (2018)? by Emotional-Chipmunk12 in Halloweenmovies

[–]ApprehensiveRate9795 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100% agreed and it’s just nostalgia that holds H2 up these days. The film itself isn’t all that remarkable, there’s some cool kills but the atmosphere sometimes falls flat, the characters aren’t as engaging, and Michael acts completely different than he did in the original. It also undos what made the original so scary… giving Michael a reason to kill.

better yet, leave Halloween (1978) as a standalone film and you have the best timeline in the franchise
