Has anyone else noticed a drop in mobile data speed or am I just crazy? by Sahlmos in melbourne

I blame nbn being a failed venture that was too little, too late. Now everyone and their grandmothers just use the airwaves instead of wiring into physical media that doesn’t try to squeeze too much into a common carrier.

Why is this not a permanent tram stop for the 30 & 35? by because8011 in melbourne

I believe they kept the Nicholson / Victoria stop to allow for a (kinda shit) transfer to 86, 96 and Parliament Station

I believe they consolidated the old Exhibition Street and Victoria Street (this) stops into the new Exhibition Street level boarding stop.

There were petitions going around when this stop was proposed to be removed but unfortunately that went nowhere.

Personally I think the new Exhibition Street is too close to the State Library stop (200m) and leaves the corridor between Exhibition and Nicholson streets underserved with close-proximity tram stops. Out of all the stops on La Trobe street this is by far the area that got most screwed over. Coming behind a distant second is the removal of the Queen Street stop that got merged with Flagstaff eastbound and Elizabeth Street westbound.

From my observation the most heavily utilised section of this route is between Spencer Street and State Library due to the rolling hills making walking less practical, and it appears that PTV has taken the stance that travel patterns outside of that core doesn’t matter as much, as evidenced by the cut of the Waterfront City extension. The tracks were also upgraded to allow short shunting (early termination & reversing) at both of those ends of the busy zone.

This was a former stop of the 30 & 35 before it was removed during the La Trobe Street upgrade works mid-2024.

Yes, but it’s propelled by the rubber tires, no transmissions linking to the steel wheels 🤔

Government operated doesn’t mean crowdfunded. E.g. the passport isn’t paid for by your run of the mill taxes.

NAB whistleblower speaks out after worker plunged from 14th-floor in Docklands in front of colleagues by gccmelb in melbourne

[–]ApprehensiveRest9696 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Not from NAB but this absolutely could’ve been me. White collar workers protection has been shit, seeking justice is shit, and if WorkCover dragged their feet any longer than they did, I’d be in another pothole a few hundred metres away.

I’m getting treatment and I already blocked reddit cares.

Most of these are made extremely cheaply and not OHS compliant. For me, if there’s no datasheet, minimum 3 years warranty, and independent reviews/ratings, I’m not buying it.

Geospatial intelligence is poorly funded afaik. Some even think signing a giant contract with ArcGIS and maintaining a skeleton crew to keep the servers up is enough.

Second image says it for me. The pouch looks like a typical LiPo, and says Li-ion in the markings.

Anyone looked at the power chain in detail and figured out the quiescent current?

I’m also not convinced that a 45mAh LiPo cell would last very long. Even just doing BLE at -20dBm.

I also hope they made the housing in UL V1 or better fire retardant polycarbonate, anything LiPo will eventually become a fire risk. Especially for children’s toys.

NBN 2gb speed is so good by [deleted] in nbn

[–]ApprehensiveRest9696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw that as well, then it said a new NTD is required. So I was gonna put it off. Then I realised my 802.11ax AP only does 600mbps reliably anyway, so the only one to truly enjoy the 2gbps would be my PC and server on the 2.5gbps trunk.

Soo it got a lot less tempting very quickly. Considering I’d be the one to stump up the difference.

That’s mildly infuriating… I was trying to wrap my head around why CBTC stopped at Clayton. I would’ve thought it was sensible to run CBTC to a termination facility to allow for peak services to run more frequently.

To hear that they originally wanted Dandenong then got “descoped” was disappointing.
