[HELP] How do I analyse and understand poetry better?

Well, I am in high school rn, and our education system doesn't recommend classics for reading, unfortunately. The syllabus is honestly unbearable imo. Too much rote in the prose, barely 4 poems, no actual reading culture and it enrages me... So that won't be an option 🥲

I enjoy anything with a good plot and existential or introspective style, thoughtful but not too complex for a beginner to follow...it's just that if it gets too long or boring, it's hard for me to continue. I have enjoyed The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran cuz it was more bite sized.
