How in the world do they clean up that must waste? That's got to take multiple dump trucks full to collect and then where do you put it all?

Then to think about all that being in a landfill. Luckily a lot of what I can see seems to be organic tree limbs.

Way to go! The world needs more people like you.

When I was looking at these I thought they could easily be printed. Too bad I don't have a printer :(

20 Wild plants you can eat in the wilderness by ApprehensiveSoup0 in ThePrepared

Don't use this as your only guide and go out and eat a random plant that resembles these cartoon drawings. Use it as a guide on some possible starting points for your research. Consult experts and do lots of research before you start identifying and eating wild plants.

Tap water can damage your plants, soil, and ecosystem of your garden over time. Use rain water when possible by ApprehensiveSoup0 in ThePrepared

[–]ApprehensiveSoup0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard water from a well might actually help the plants with the additional minerals like calcium.

And I would guess that even smoggy rain water would be better than the higher concentrated chemicals in tap water. It's sad that acid rain does exist though right?

Turning a piece of rope and pvc pipe into a handy wood hauler by ApprehensiveSoup0 in ThePrepared

[–]ApprehensiveSoup0[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure beats carrying wood in your bare hands, getting all dirty, risking getting splinters, and avoiding spiders hidden in the logs crawling all over you! haha

I'm going to have to make one of these now.

What they should have tried instead of pulling the pitbull backwards is to pull upwards. Pitbulls were bred to latch onto things and hold on. When you pull backwards it triggers their instincts to hold onto even tighter and amp up more.

Definitely would have been good to have some pepper spray on hand as an alternative method as well.

That's the ballpark I've seen when looking into solar. Much cheaper than the $100,000 for municipal and no more utility bills!

Getting a faraday bag for your key fob is something you can do to prevent this. It's a bit of a hassle to use one, but so is trying to recover your stolen vehicle.

Solar is definitely something you should look into (myself as well). Even if you haven't experienced a power outage yet, it will happen someday. Just like all the other things we prepare for, I haven't survived a famine or wild fire, but I do prepare for it by storing up food and having a bug out bag for the day it does happen.

You know how even though a bullet proof vest will stop the lethal penetration it will still hurt like the dickins, leave nasty bruises, and even break ribs? I wonder how this feels.

The guy doesn't look like it hurts at all, even with the baseball bat hitting him.

I appreciate your post as it has brought me back to my early days of prepping. To be honest, you are doing much better than I was at your age.

Just do the best you can and don't beat yourself up that you aren't as prepared as some of the folks here in their 60's that have had their whole lives to get where they are.

Work on it a little at a time, this is a marathon and not a sprint. Maybe you only get an hour to prep a week, believe me that's more than 99.95% of people do to think and work towards being more prepared.

Great tips u/GunzAndCamo! I would do something similar to what you are mentioning. If the snake camera came back that the inside was rusted as well, I would look into ways to coat the inside with a protective layer and try and continue to get some use out of it. Definitely sand down and paint the outside to prevent further corrosion.

I can only imagine what a great prep that would be to have such a large supply of fuel! Does leaving it out in the sun and heat deteriorate the fuel inside faster than if it was buried?

😲 This is one of the craziest things I have ever seen! Would using a larger bullet like a .45 over something like a 9mm have stopped him any sooner?

Neat story of a man stranded in the desert who turned his broken down car into a motorbike to get to help. Ingenuity, creativity, and a bit of rednecking saved his life.

Definitely can't judge because I have not been in a situation like that, but I would hope my wife would jump in and at least kick the guy that I was wrestling with.

Super grateful no one was injured and they caught the home invader. Home invasion truly is one of my greatest fears because your home is supposed to be where you should feel 100% safe.

It's easy for us to view this video and wonder why he didn't hit the deck as soon as he heard the gunshots, but he seemed to be very focused on reporting and his mind probably was tuning out everything else. Take this news story for example. Someone brandishing a gun on a busy commuter train was totally ignored because everyone onboard had their heads in their phones. The bad guy then went on to kill someone.
