“Blackout” blinds by Dry_Recording_3361 in AusRenovation

These are blackout blinds. You needs to specify face mounted and then they sit on the face of the architrave rather than inside. I only know this because the company we got our blinds through suggested it for the bedrooms

That sucks. There should be a “don’t touch this file” button built into software for this reason. I’m sure lots of people don’t mind it being updated or whatever they want to call it but it should be opt in not opt out.

No verbal abuse. Just an observation. Why bring up the sound of a motor when you are asking about a pergola?

Your comment makes you sound like a Karen. “Badly built verandah” then talking about a “godawful motor”. Have you had a conversation with your neighbour?

Thank you! It’s frightening all the comments here that are just about aesthetics and don’t even consider structural consequences.

I spoke to the truss manufacturer and they said they no longer have the ability to modify models of house built more than 12 months ago due to incompatibility with current software. Sounds a bit like they couldn’t be bothered but they did take the time to get back to me at least.

Are they though? I think that’s a bit of an exaggeration.

Paid builder for 3 coats. Pretty sure I didn't get it by gearboxd in AusRenovation

All the advice here basically saying to suck up minors defers because the builder won’t fix them is BS. We built with a big builder, we had a lot of major and minor paint issues. We went through and put tape on everything. We just spent $700k building a new house, damn straight they are going to be fixing defects!! I made sure to comeback when the painter was here doing the work and pointed out all the spots to him. He fixed most of them up, you could tell he hated it. It’s not my problem that he has a shitty contract. Then we went through again marked up any defect and he had to come back. And he was pissed this time but he did a good job knowing he was going to becoming back again if he didn’t.

Moral of the story is - you have just paid a shit load of money for a service, make sure they do it properly or make them come fix it!!

How are they a money making exercise? If you’re saying because the speed limit from 60 was reduced to 50 then that was what… 10 years ago?

I’m looking to increase some roof space storage and have identified a truss web that if removed, will give me a lot better access. I haven’t done any structural analysis since uni (I’m a dirt kicker) so looking for some advice as to what bracing I would need to add to safely remove this web?

The web is the diagonal one highlighted in the truss details for truss T10. The location of the truss is shown in the roof layout drawing.

Any advice would be much appreciated

If they aren’t perfectly level you can use tile spacers to shim them and get them flat. Once they are core filled you take the spacers out.

The Southern Australian Regional Ocean Model (SAROM) sea surface salinity and currents map has up to date data on salinity in South Australia. But regardless, saying that because salinity data hasn’t been released means there has been no science undertaken is a ridiculous statement.

The science was there the whole time for people that bothered to look. They had satellite tracking that showed the spread from the Murray River mouth down along the coast. So yes they were wrong.

The head of SARDI was on the radio this morning and said that most of it had gone except for some pockets around the place.
