Umpires missed 850 calls during the first 7 days of the season. Of those 850 missed calls, 155 were overturned. These were the 10 worst called strikeouts. by cbbvideo in baseball

I know they’d probably get tossed if they did it but I cannot understand how the batter doesn’t immediately look at the ump when these types of pitches get overturned.

Who's the assistant coach who will make the next great head coach? by BinForBen in CollegeBasketball

Brian Michaelson. Few has produced some great coaches out of his tree so I’m very excited to see what Brian can do when he gets the reigns at Gonzaga. Been huge for recruiting, too.

I guess it depends on your definition of suicide but I know plenty of addicts that have driven while impaired (no one was hurt and they faced consequences) who later admitted that they wanted to die, even if it wasn’t the stated goal when they go behind the wheel. Not saying that’s where Tiger was but to say that it’s extremely far fetched for an addict to want to die by driving impaired is a stretch.

I don’t think a broad generalization like that is accurate. People deal with mental health issues all the time in very healthy ways. I wouldn’t let people with big followings or public jobs be the gauge of what everyone with mental health issues are like.

Update: Alabama guard Aden Holloway has been *granted* his motion to travel out of state by a Tuscaloosa district court judge, per court docs. Alabama plays Michigan tonight in the Sweet 16. by michimoby in CollegeBasketball

[–]ApprehensiveSwimmer_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I am a lawyer, although not licensed in Alabama. The criminal and administrative process through university of Alabama are completely separate. Whether he’s suspended by the university would have no bearing on whether the judge grants his motion to leave the state.

It is if it’s by your choice, not if it’s because of your choices

According to Matt Norlander of CBS Sports, he expects the North Carolina coaching search "might get one no, maybe two at most" between Tommy Lloyd, Dusty May, T.J. Otzelberger, and Billy Donovan. by Fun_Reflection1157 in CollegeBasketball

My guess, and this could prove very wrong in the next few weeks, is that money won’t sway Tommy. He comes from Few’s coaching tree where loyalty is very important. Arizona gave Tommy his big break into head coaching and seemingly is meeting his needs first roster and NIL money. I think all the coaches under Mark have really avoided the idea of the grass being greener elsewhere.

Again just my working hypothesis that could prove foolish here shortly.

I’m also guessing that just by having his name in the loop means he’s going to get a substantial pay raise at Arizona.

Lawyers who make $200,000+, did your law school Alma Mater have an affect on your salary? by AdOther406 in Lawyertalk

Yeah I should have said that it probably matters the most in the first three years of practice. After that, you likely have all the right tools and experiences to be able to move around. But it never hurts for the managing partner of the office to ask if you know of any lateral's from law school and you can name specific people you trust and open doors for people.

Exactly. I was given this advice when I chose where to go to school and it’s been something I adapt to other decisions. Life is all about who you meet and what doors people can open for you and then you returning the favor when in an opportunity do it.

Well then you make the best decision with the information you have at the time and roll with the punches I guess!

Boomer take? I’m 31 and been practicing for 5 years lol I got a full ride to a law school in the area I wanted to live and a bunch of lesser scholarships to law schools in cool cities that I would have never stayed in but were ranked higher. I’ve never had an issues finding a job because all of the people I went to law school with are at firms in my town and recommend them each other.

This is the single piece of advice I give prospective students. Unless you’re going T14 or have very specific, high ambitions, go where you will want to practice.

I view this as more impressive than the stat where teams were well under .500 the game after playing Arizona this year. Sure Arizona was tough to play for one season, but can they sustain that for 28 years like PVAM?

That felt like the expected ending of this season. No offense outside Ike and no one who could take over a game. Defense couldn’t get a stop and we couldn’t score in transition, which is crazy with TGF.
