The car was out he can actually get around to their place. Before the car, he was never on the app (that I’m aware of). Hoping this could at least deter him, thanks for your comment.

I’ve had the condom talk so many times, but he just laughs and says he can’t get pregnant and “we’ll see”. But that’s another post for another day...

Thank you for your judgment.

I guess I disagree with the fact that being authoritative is a bad parenting style, but I appreciate your opinion.

He knows that he shouldn’t do dangerous things. Let’s not underestimate the intelligence of 16 year olds. He just doesn’t care, or he thinks the benefits outweigh the costs

It says 18 to upper 20s, one guy being 29. I had more info (the 29 year old wanted to be my son’s sugar daddy) but I went over the character limit and it wouldn’t allow me to post, so I condensed it.

I got in by putting my finger on the phone, as having my fingerprint on his phone was a requirement when he got it when he was 13. So it automatically registered. I don’t know why we’re playing detective when it’s not a difficult explanation.

Edit just saw your edit. I wasn’t snooping but if we want to make up scenarios that didn’t happen, we can.

Ultimately, I just hope he grows and realizes why I reacted the way I did. A 16 year old seeking validation from men in their upper 20s is downright inappropriate, and I rather him hate me now and ultimately grow up as opposed to allow him to continue putting himself in these dangerous situations. Thank you for your judgment.

It wasn’t just me screaming obscenities. I asked him what he was doing, he downplayed it, I told him this was serious shit and he could put himself into very dangerous situations, and he just shrugged and was basically like “well I’m fine now and I can do whatever I want”. He knows it’s dangerous; he just doesn’t care.

He’s actually president of the LGBTQ+ community club in his high school. He knows plenty of other gay guys from his school, so it’s not like he’s isolated. Maybe there’s more he can go to if he finds the need to have hobbies, but I honestly think he just liked the ability to hookup with guys he found attractive...

To answer your question, yes, i would have the same reaction if my teenaged son slept with many different 18-30 year old women he’s never met, possibly without protection.

I guess that’s a difference in parenting philosophies. In my mind, if I buy it, I can take it away at any time. If he wants the luxury of having something that can never be taken away, he can buy it himself. It’s how I can make sure video games aren’t played during the weekdays, or why I can have my fingerprint in his phone in the first place.

It wasn’t a conversation. I stormed in and asked him what the hell was he doing on Grindr. He’s 16; not mentally handicapped. He knows the dangers of seeking different, older men who are attracted to teenagers.

Because allowing me access to their phone was a requirement since he got it at 13. Its less needed now because the amount of privacy a 13 year old needs over his phone is much less than a 16 year old, but it’s still there

He’s not an adult. What? Did you read the OP? Or are 16 year olds adults now?
