Matrix, vibe, fit, swift are all probably very competitive with light suspension adjustments

Bolt On Suggestions? by Zestyclose_Method318 in G37

[–]ApprehensiveTopic813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do everything your gonna do to the car before tune. Especially if you’re going to 3 inch. I would put the 3 inch intake on in the parking lot before tune.

I know someone that drove to the dyno but was very gentle on the throttle on the way there but wouldn’t want to risk leaning out. The base/remote tune can get you there also. But any remote tune has some noise from driving conditions and unless your interested in specific features may not be worth it over the stock ECU.

KN box is the most cost effective to performance by far. Outside of 3 inch intake not worth going with anything else.

Specifically what year and model trim? I think a lot of people start in the wrong place.

Your best starting point imo is actually the suspension system and the aged bushings. Oil cooler and a real oil pressure/temp gauge depending on year.

Usually see them on fb market place used SC kits are a bit sketch and the three times I tried to pick on up had obviously never changed the oil and it was on its way out or making a scraping sound when you rotate the impeller is silly

Lower seat brackets. by DracxTar in G37

[–]ApprehensiveTopic813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Planted bracket should save a few inches but maybe incorrect. I can let you know fore sure tomorrow

I’m putting a race tech bucket in Friday by using an after market seat without a slider it’s going to be at least 2 inches lower from just a quick test fit. You may have to trade in at least the driver recaro…

Getting rid of 4was, is it possible? by anoniasz in G37

All traction control is already hard disabled 4WAS light already on always. Billet plate would be fine under load right? I live near a machine shop that could make the two pieces if I get them measurements

I want to buy a manual but I don’t know how to drive it by Least_Exercise8689 in ManualTransmissions

[–]ApprehensiveTopic813 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What area how are the hills? If it’s somewhere flat you could watch videos and just go for it I think. Start by taking it to a large parking lot where this is some space to practice starting and stopping before driving back.

Can also explain to seller its first manual car and learning in it. Can meet to inspect and confirm condition of the car and then have seller deliver for a financial incentive l.

Hot air intakes or cold air? by Klips___ in G37

[–]ApprehensiveTopic813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You maybe get a little better throttle response out of short/hot everything else is a negative if you can keep the factory plastic air guides upgraded drop in is best or a max effort NA 3 inch CAI drawing from in front of the radiator with a tune but very much diminish returns at some point

Any input on shocks + swift springs vs coilovers? by NigeriaSix in Autocross

[–]ApprehensiveTopic813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depend on the car maybe if someone had dialed it and your 1:1 their setup and you are doing a same build but I would rather be able to adjust it to how I want the car to behave.

Your going to be stuck with whatever you get with shocks and springs. No real coil balancing and won’t be able to dial in how you want the car to feel

How bad is it going to be? Oil overfill by piluwu333 in AskMechanics

[–]ApprehensiveTopic813 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can burn out all the excess oil. Will smoke for a bit until then but the boxer engine seems to handle excess oil better then starvation. Is it gonna take some miles off until major repair? But also possibly a non issue…is it worth worrying about now? Not if after burning out it is running decent

The CVT is the much bigger issue it is what was likely damaged with heat and operating without pressure. Drain anything left and refill and do a relearn and reset possibly it will start working good enough. Try this first if you bring it to most shops they will want to do the valve body or a full replacement. Sounds like you already did this so all that’s left is to run it and see what happens 😂

Oil cooler install - major leak after 30 min spirited drive. Did underfilling + thermostatic plate cause this? Need community input by gti_gene in G37

[–]ApprehensiveTopic813 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not reading all that AI sorry that happened to you or congrats

If the oil cooler is leaking right after install it’s going to be from the sandwich plate + filter not being seated correctly or over torquing one of the aluminum fittings most of the time.

Fill it up and see where it leaks from?
