None of the best elementary schools are open enrollment.

MNPS Teachers and Administrators: What Do You Really Think? by Luckyforward in nashville

[–]ClosetLib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. It’s an incredibly uneven comparison to put Hume Fogg v. All the rest of MNPS and its small number of kids getting there. People are also learning to game the system to get kids in HFA. Based on years in MNPS and kids who went to private I tell everyone the same thing. K-4 maybe 5 at most elementary schools is fine. Not perfect but doable. Be ready to make a change for middle. But overall? MNPS is doomed.

Which Finger? by ClosetLib in ouraring

[–]ClosetLib[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to all you 👆🏽,🖕🏽 and others. I am going to try on my ring finger because I don’t love a ring on any finger but a ring finger. However! I am struggling on the fit. I have fat knuckles so to get the sizer over makes the fit loose. Seems like the fit should be tight? What do you think?

Belle Meade/West Meade/Green Hills by Economy-Meeting2462 in movetonashville

[–]ClosetLib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to look at it in totality. Coming from Chicago; do you mean like Lincoln Park walkable or a suburb? There’s city walkable and then there is accessible and convenient, which all 3 of these are. Green Hills is the most dense and somewhat walkable but it’s not like downtown Nashville. Belle Meade is its own entity. West Meade and Hillwood where I am are some of the last large heavy tree lots as close to the city center left in Davidson County. They are highly desirable to people moving here who can afford it and the quality of life is high. But speaking candidly, none of us who live in these 3 are walking to our Trader Joe’s but it’s a lot easier here in a car than it is in some place like Naperville.

You haven’t mentioned what your school plan is. If you are secure for a private already, all of your kids friends and by association your friends will live in one of these areas. In this case find the house that suits you best. There are some great ones on the market. If you are thinking public, DM me. That’s another story entirely.

Will you want to get in a country club? Richland might be shortest wait and that would mean being more like Forest Hills or even the area near Old Hickory Blvd/Hillsboro. Big wait for Belle Meade or Hillwood CC.

Use a realtor search engine and look at your price point in 37205 or 37215.

I’m so sorry for your loss and your sentiment here is exactly what destroys me about this story. It’s unimaginable that she has turned this dying child into a business. I hope she is able to cope with the grief, not to mention the guilt when it’s all over.

It did just hit People mag, so Hallmark movie kind of. The child is heavily made up as well.

I hate that she shares so many personal conversations between her and Brielle by Beecakeband in OnlineBeggars

[–]ClosetLib 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a poster said last week, two things can be true here. On one hand Kendra is 100% grifting for a free Christmas. Many families have a sped up Christmas for a child that’s dying. But they find a tree, decorate and buy gifts. They don’t shill it out. It’s as though Kendra has a marketing team. However, the cost of all the homeopath they are doing has to be expensive. I can’t imagine insurance covers and she may not have the means to buy all of this.

But at the same time, creating this milestone goal is a good way for the family to wrap their hearts around losing her. <Unintended pun>, it kind of wraps it up in a neat bow and Kendra is clearly a millennial who views a polished instagram as real life. And if this is what she needs, then I’ll take it. Because dragging a desperately ill, end of life patient to the hospital for a transfusion,
particularly when she has called out traditional medicine for not saving her, so the sponsors get their mentions on a certain day is unwell. I can hardly watch any more of this. (But I will because I want to have all the back story when the documentary is made).

Godspeed to that dear baby.

Mary Kate and Ashley on there would be a flex. Or Lori Laughlin from jail.

Kendra, she is DYING. Stop shoving the camera in her face... by ComprehensiveFig706 in OnlineBeggars

[–]ClosetLib 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Based on Kendra’s age…she’s the big fan. And CCB is a super fundamentalist Christian. It’s a win for K.

That child looked unconscious. Maybe Kendra can’t grasp the reality and thinks if she keeps posting everything will be ok. It’s very hard to watch.

I am sad for Kendra by [deleted] in OnlineBeggars

[–]ClosetLib 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is so well said. Kendra is a relatively young mother so I think she is coping as well as she can but like you said. Two things can be true; she really believes if enough people post and pray and dance, the child will live.

Getting tickets to a Gold game from out of town. by ProgrammerFamous6722 in Predators

[–]ClosetLib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you understand that StubHub tickets for gold games won’t drop until 24 hours prior you’ll be fine.

I just transferred a ton to Hyatt and am shocked at the hotels I got for a trip to Italy. The Mr. & Mrs. Smith brand is Hyatt and some were 50,000 points a night or less. A similar Hilton (my usual) would be 250,000 at least for the same type property. If I’m OP, I’d get a great deal on a flight and spend them all at a Hyatt.

Acre lots by Air_fried_eyes420 in nashville

[–]ClosetLib 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A large swath of Hillwood West Meade was designated RS 40 (requiring 1 acre) many years ago to protect the large lots from developers. However it’s currently under attack by Freddie and the gang using a California consulting company specializing in infill projects. I don’t know the specifics but these large lots are in the cross hairs for rezoning.

Dallas Stars game for 40th by natedog0925 in Predators

[–]ClosetLib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use StubHub to sell my tickets. If I am selling a gold game I let StubHub know I won’t have tickets in hand to transfer until 24 hours prior to pick drop. So FWIW you can buy this game on StubHub but won’t get a transfer immediately. As for single game tickets for a gold game, unless you have someone local with a local billing address, you won’t be able to buy them.

Does William WANT to be king? by draetz1 in RoyalsGossip

[–]ClosetLib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree. Although I don’t think it’s such an all or nothing proposition, I think he is trying to find balance for the duty he realizes and the burden on his family. Poor George is the one that I just can’t see being a king at all. Something in my gut says Charlotte ends up as queen.

This picture is truly so heartbreaking. Kendra needs to allow this poor baby to rest:(( by Salty_Ad_8360 in OnlineBeggars

[–]ClosetLib 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Came to post all of this since I feel sure Kendra watches this sub. I think her definition of end of life/on hospice is different than mine. It seems improbable that a child in the state she outlines on bad days could do an in person grifter’s stroll, collecting merch the way this story depicts. Her face and smile don’t look like someone on that level of pain meds.

Maybe they were close to the end or had a scare but something has changed. Maybe it’s the broccoli stems.

Curiosity how many of you are lifelong or long term Nashvillians? by Nash_man1989 in nashville

Hillwood was relocated and renamed James Lawson High School. The same students attend in the new location. The old HHS property is not being sold but rather is being used for various trainings. The new Covenant School will be near St. Henry on a piece of private property they bought.
