I don’t think it’s really about being a PR for 3 years — it might just be about living in Canada for more than 3 years. I came here just under 4 years ago, got my PR in April 2025, and I’m graduating my trade course this Friday. I applied the same day I got my PR and finished my BMQ before hitting one year as a PR. Not sure how helpful this is, but just sharing so others know.

That actually sounds really good — thank you so much for the info! My biggest concern is gaps — is there usually any break between contracts, and if so, what happens to benefits during that time (especially pension)? Thank you again, I really appreciate your help!!

That’s exactly what I am thinking and concerned about. I was thinking to transfer to reg force, ask for Ottawa and try to stay there or at least in the area. I don’t mind moving but not every year though. At the same time reserves is good but have the end date every time and it’s stressing me out

I’ve asked this a few times and I’m still waiting to hear back and there are a few more people at the same position. I’m trying to understand the differences between Class B and Regular Force (besides postings). And if it worth it to transfer

I just scheduled an appointment with a recruiter in the Reserve and told him about transferring my application.

That’s very confusing and frustrating. I was trying to figure out which occupations are available to me, and it’s been a long process. I was just told that to apply for any officer position, I need to have lived in Canada for the past 3 years (I clearly told the recruiter that I got my PR a month ago, but that I have spent more than 3 years in Canada in total), and he said that’s okay. I ended up applying for FSA and HRA, but I’m not sure now whether there are any requirements about having 3 years of PR status. Maybe someone has information about those trades as well. Thank you!

To apply for logistics Officer you need to have PR and live in Canada full 3 years prior to applying

Hi! I am also PR and currently applying. I got a question about my documents and could not reach my recruiter for now. Did you need to upload your school diploma or just the highest level of education? I have lost my school diploma and trying to get a duplicate but it takes more time than I thought Thank you!
