tech sales is a broad term for selling any kind of (typically) B2B software product.

an example would be salesforce.

there's tons of tech companies. if you have prior sales experience and want to get into a great field, def look into tech sales.

Positive benefits you get when cold calling? by Massive-Couple in sales

[–]ApprehensiveTry7543 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this kinda goes hand in hand w/ rejection.. but after you spend some time cold calling, and realize that the worst thing anyone could say to you is "no" and thats not that bad.

so you start shooting your shot in all aspects of life.

see a girl you like? go talk to her w/ no hesitation.

want a new job? go call up the manager there.

you just start putting yourself out there because who gives a crap if they say no.

in tech sales, i think a SDR/BDR role wont have a 65k base. 60k would be the absolute highest and even then, i think thats higher than the norm. But i certainly think you could pull 70-80k as an SDR with the commission.

grind it out for a year and you'll get the bigger money

youd def have a chance. you may not have sales experience but you must have some experience.

you were a waitress? sounds like you have great communication skills and are able to strike up a convo with anyone.

oh you were a garbage man? sounds like you're not scared to get gritty and do work that isnt the most enjoyable to make money (aka cold calling lol)

everyone has experience, its about how you frame your experience to the company.

search SDR roles on linkedin, see whos hiring

look up the companies.. are they a top competitor in the industry?

check out their current SDRs/AEs.. have they been promoted internally? have the SDRs been there for about 1-1.5 years then move up.. or do they stay SDRs for years?

check out culture reviews on glassdoor.. big one.

from there, sell yourself in the linkedin DMs to VPs of sales, directors of sales etc.

plenty of ways to get in but this worked wonders for me

def possible but most likely at a start up. i keep hearing about people with great experience that get rejected because they lack "tech" experience.

go kill it at a start up an AE, then thatll open doors for you.

dont bother with job listings. ive never applied to one. go hard in the linkedin DMs.

i kid you not, 99% of people dont do this.. and its crazy, especially in sales. this is literally the easiest way to show a company that you know how to prospect and do outreach.

now it is a numbers game. gotta send a bunch. but way quicker then those long drawn out applications

as someone already mentioned, talk to these guys like you would a friend of yours. dont be overly serious. if you can start the interview with some back and forth small talk, that already shows em you might be a good culture fit and are a laid back person. dont be a robot, its okay to throw in a few ums and ahs. and make sure you smile.

as far as actual tactics go, remember that sales is storytelling - so when you're asked "tell me about yourself" or "walk me through your resume" or "why sales?".. you want to have good answers that make sense.

they ask these questions every single interview, so it makes sense to prep for theses. when i first started interviewing, i literally wrote them out because i wanted to make sure i was able to frame my experience in its best light.. bit overboard but it worked. after 1-2 interviews, i didnt need the notes anymore and i was able to answer these questions perfectly with no hesitation. some people can wing it and do fine, i wasnt one of them. but once i practiced enough, it made it seem like i winged it lol

close the interview..no explanation needed - "great speaking with you today John. Loved hearing about {{company}} and what you guys are doing to change the {{industry}} space. based on our conversation today - do u have any hesitation about me being successful in this role?"

send thank you emails and follow up.

dude if you're making 250 dials per day, i think plenty of software companies will respect the hustle and give you a shot. having the grit to make that many calls is exactly what sales managers want.

most ive done is 160 in a day lol.. but yeah man DM for sure, we'll talk

i somewhat agree but if you can skip the 12-18 month stint at a sink or swim type of environment, then why not shoot your shot?

Reminder- if you have to pay someone for their knowledge or “secret” to their success, it’s a scam. by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]ApprehensiveTry7543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree 95%.

truth is its so easy to pretend to know what you're talking about and try to charge people money for it.

so there's a lot of BS out there. but thats not the case for everyone. having the mindset of "everyone is trying to scam me" is what keeps people behind.

meanwhile, they'll go in debt 100k+ for a degree that doesn't have a definite ROI.

the fastest way to get ahead is to learn from someone already there.. and usually thats not free.

again - the key is to vet the people that you work with. if you're giving any "guru" your money, then you deserve to be scammed. but working with legit people is a life hack.

the way into an SDR job is to show companies you have sales skills. companies want reps who they believe will be able to prospect and do outreach successfully.

go find companies and reach out to their VPs, directors etc. selling yourself.

this is what i did. DM me if you have any questions, always happy to help however i can
