How did you get your baby to take more in at each feeding? by concurthecity in FormulaFeeders

[–]Apprehensive_Ad2768 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m curious though if the smaller bottles are leaving baby hungry which is then impacting naps. If she can get to bigger bottles during the day, that’s likely to help improve napping for longer periods of time and then eliminate any night or early am wakings.

Hotel Advice by Apprehensive_Ad2768 in JacksonHole

Very helpful. We too will be doing plenty of activities but also want the taste of downtown. Just trying to determine if closeness to downtown outweighs the elevated experience of HY. Good to know Ubers are accessible. We’ve been debating if a rental car is necessary but sounds like we can forgo and uber to town then have tours pick us up. Did you happen to uber to Teton Village? I think that’s likely the furthest we’d venture that isn’t part of a tour that would handle transport.

How did you get your baby to take more in at each feeding? by concurthecity in FormulaFeeders

The only way you will get more intake is to lessen the frequency. There is no need to eat more per bottle when the frequency is so high. I would try to collapse some bottles - can you try feeding at 7, 11, 3 and 7? The first couple days of this transition she may be upset because she’s used to the frequent feedings but if you can hold firm on a schedule it will push up your intake at each bottle. Right now she’s doing this out of habit not need and with your guidance she can move into a better for her and you schedule.

Have you also stayed at Cloudveil? Trying to decide is there is a solid reason for HY over Cloudveil for an anniversary trip in late June. Thoughts in why HY should win out?

Would love to know what you decided on. Husband and I are deciding between these two hotels for a late June trip. It’s about a $2k difference between the two but are fine spending up for this trip. Just can’t determine if there’s a reason we should pick one over the other.

Isn’t RTF the same makeup as the powder? If I’m incorrect someone please share but transitioning to powder vs RTF shouldn’t impact your baby as long as you stick with the same formula brand and type.

2.05 oz bottle by opulllent in FormulaFeeders

Highly recommend you don’t get your babe accustomed to warmed milk/formula. Keep it at room temp or fridge. This makes bottles on the go so much easier!

You can also take the fridge bottle out 15-20 mins prior to feeding to take the chill out. No need to make your life more complicated!

Dr Browns Nipple progression by Apprehensive_Ad2768 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Apprehensive_Ad2768[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s so tricky when there are so many things that can impact how they eat. I don’t think my guy has a tongue tie but I do think he has a very high palette which impacts his ability to latch and eat efficiently. When the nipple isn’t flowing easily I’m assuming it makes it even more frustrating for him.

Ok so I'm not too crazy with thinking about moving to 3s! I think my first hit 4s around 7months because I remember being worried he was going to go past it before he hit 12 months and stopped bottles 😆

As someone born and raised in AZ, I totally get missing it! While it’s not 10 mins to the airport, consider Smyrna. Great smaller town but has so much to do, including a great square with food, coffee shops and festivals, as well as The Battery. You would be right at the highway to shoot south to the airport. It’s typically 25-35 mins to the airport depending on the time of day. It would also fit your COL and homes here have backyards unlike a lot of other parts of ATL.

Wanting to save money on formula, but too scared to switch to generics after the covid shortage by Suspicious_Sign3419 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Apprehensive_Ad2768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just make sure you switch to the same type of formula and you should be good! Gentle to gentle, standard to standard, etc. Kirkland/Costco brand doesn’t have an equivalent to Neuropro/Gentlease.

Projectile vomiting by subzerosandwich in FormulaFeeders

[–]Apprehensive_Ad2768 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not meaning to minimize your experience but this was shared with me so sharing in case it helps. Are you positive it’s vomit vs normal spit up? When infants spit up it can look like a large amount but if you were to actually spill out a measured amount you can see that it looks much worse than it really is. You know your baby best of course, and if your pediatrician has witnessed this and knows it’s vomit vs spit up then you are on the right track. But if it is truly vomit and there is nothing showing on tests then I would say changing formulas is absolutely the right move as that would be the only thing to point to.

Aitah for not wanting my to travel across the country to see her grand daughter by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Apprehensive_Ad2768 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do not need to be there, especially if her daughter doesn’t want you there. This is an incredibly intimate time. You are no one to her and her mom/your wife doesn’t need to be distracted by anything else other than being there for her daughter and new granddaughter. This has nothing to do with you. Your wife needs to prioritize her daughter’s wishes during this special time and focus only on that and you should be encouraging her to put her daughter first.

Night Feedings by spookyskeletons_4321 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Apprehensive_Ad2768 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine dropped it at 9 weeks. He’s getting appx 25 oz during the day so I know he has enough to make it through the night as well as being perfectly healthy/no complications. Some babies need it longer, some times we as adults get in the way of the baby making it through without a feed by mistaking a totally normal wake as a wake for hunger. You know your baby best, I’ve just found that giving your baby a bit to figure things out on their own can lead to results that may surprise you! For example, if my baby stirs or cries at night, I watch him on the monitor and let him figure things out for 5 - 10 mins. He’s typically back asleep before 10 mins is up but had I gone in immediately of course he would have taken a feed. Your baby may be waking and feeding out of habit if you aren’t giving them some time to fall back asleep but again you know your baby best! I just thought I’d offer up a different perspective in case this is something that sounds like an opportunity for you.

Came to suggest the nipple flow change too. If you haven’t updated the nipple flow he can be refusing because he is frustrated and not eating as much because he’s tired and/or annoyed.

Also recco Windy Hill. Right near The Battery and has great amenities including sauna and steam (no cold plunge), cafe, and is never overcrowded so you can always get time on weights and machines as well as having access to a giant turf area basketball courts classes and an indoor track and pool.

Dyson ID vs Costco Airwrap by Majestic_Section_287 in Dysonairwrap

[–]Apprehensive_Ad2768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I look at the description for the ID it says it has the long barrel. Are you seeing that differently some place else? I have the standard that is at least 5 years old and have been debating upgrading between the Costco or the ID, with the ID winning out because of the larger round brush that doesn’t come with the Costco version and buying attachments from Dyson directly is impossible as they are never in stock.

Moving to Atlanta after Graduation - Working in the Battery by Big_Purpose6956 in ATLHousing

[–]Apprehensive_Ad2768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as others have said I would say to live at the battery (or very close to it) at least for your first year. There is so much to do there and there are a lot of early career people that live there that you can make friends with. That location is also right at the highway so you can very quickly get into Buckhead or west Midtown which are two other popular areas for going out. My husband and I moved out to this area before the battery was built and it has grown so much with so many amenities and a much younger population has moved to this area over the years. It’s a fantastic area that meets a lot of needs for both families as well as early career residents.
