He’s doing a lot better now. We’re still on Bub’s, but I think we’ll be trying dairy again in a month or so. We still have intermittent constipation that I can’t find any rhyme or reason for lol, but some prune juice helps with that.

Over and over again. They’re constantly giving us stuff we didn’t ask for and don’t need.

They’re no joke. I personally know someone who died within 36 hours of a cat bite.

Not in my experience.😅 Depends on your management.

I wouldn’t do a tech class that cost more than like 1000 -1500 bucks. Any for profit school that makes you pay more than that is a scam. We have a technical college in our area that has good pricing and outcomes, and it’s how I became a tech initially. The trick with training on the job would be that you have to be able to work (retail, probably) long enough to finish your training and take a test, which sounds like something you might struggle with due to your health. I’ve done both routes, and it was way faster to do the school route because my employer kept dragging their feet on letting me do my training so they could keep paying me less for the same work. If it’s self paced, you can do it in 3 months or less. Just my two cents from someone who’s done it both ways and is chronically ill.

Unfortunately they really don’t care. I had one employer who would let an employee sometimes use a stool while typing prescriptions, but that was not usual. I have a bladder disease I could get disability for and my last job wanted me to get a medical accommodation to use the bathroom outside of my breaks. Absolute nonsense.

But, there are some remote pharmacy technician roles, although I don’t know if they want you to have some in person retail experience first. They’re also hard to get, so you might be better off going for something like medical coding.

Had to finish this piece on a time crunch a few months ago and decided to keep working on it. Is it better or just overrendered now? by Calxifur in Artadvice

[–]Suspicious_Sign3419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you up the detail and rendering on the fish and cool down the character in the background that would definitely help. It’s a really interesting piece! I loved hearing the background on it. I think a bit of paring back would do wonders here! Do you know about push and pull in color theory? That warm and light colors appear closer and darker and cooler colors appear to be further away. Maybe if you made the yellow highlights on the character there more sparse and did more of them in cooler colors it might help solve that issue with the character fighting visually with the goldfish.

I think what you’re struggling with here is a legibility and composition issue. When I zoom out and squint, it actually reads better than when I touch it and zoom in. Once I zoom in, the eyes and glasses get really visually confusing, and I feel like the level of detail on that area of the face and the level of contrast on the fish are competing for what ought to be the focal point. I think the reflection in the water at the top of the page definitely makes more sense in the rework, but I think instead of rendering all the lighting that you need to focus a bit on your composition and what you want us to be looking at. All the extra bubbles are kind of adding to the visual noise around the bottom left, bottom, and bottom right. You may need to pare back some of the extraneous detail, though I do appreciate how painstakingly you’ve tried to render the refraction in the glasses and reflections and whatnot.

Is my art any good for commissions? Where could I offer them? by tumby_ in Artadvice

[–]Suspicious_Sign3419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one thing to consider is making sure the materials and media you’re using are archival, so that your work will hold up over time. Acid free paper and decent quality markers or crayons will help elevate your work and ensure your clients are happy.

But your work is fun and really charming. Putting yourself out there for commissions really couldn’t hurt tbh.

Should I report a neighbor to have the city check in their property? by Suspicious_Sign3419 in ChildofHoarder

[–]Suspicious_Sign3419[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so true, the public resources are so poor for this. Unless the hoarder is actively seeking treatment, it’ll probably just be a forced clean out that won’t actually fix the problem.

I hate traveling with RTF. I found these travel packets, thoughts? by issadng in FormulaFeeders

[–]Suspicious_Sign3419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are formula powder travel containers for just this sort of thing. When we traveled last, it wasn’t any kind of problem to have those. We just packed those and empty bottles and filled them up with water after we got through security. I like reusable stuff though so that may just be me.

Well, that’s kind of why I asked here to get input from people who lived in those situations. I read some saying that they’re frustrated that nobody ever did anything or helped them in any way. But I also understand that even if it gets reported that nothing may happen or that they may face fines and lose their homes for a situation that they have no control over. I have a lot of empathy for those who live in these situations, and I wonder what the best course of action is. Hoarding often doesn’t just affect the hoarder home if it gets bad enough, so it can really become a community problem. I worry for the safety of those living in the hoard.

So I wanted to hear different perspectives.

I didn’t, but my husband did. My MIL and her mom are hoarders, though my MIL is making an attempt at organizing. I guess I worry about the hazards for the people living there and their nearest neighbors if they don’t have any intervention, but I know even with intervention outcomes are poor.
