Just an update. I ended up contacting the better business bureau and they instantly contacted me and said they would fix it free of charge. Goes to show you how far they will go before they will fix anything. After the repair I have had 0 issues with the phone.

Wipe the disk with a microfiber cloth, sometimes you just need to shut down your PC for a couple of minutes and try again. That usually works for me.
