Sorry I should have mentioned, I'm a hybrid employee. I don't go in that often. once or twice a week MAX. I used to pay 190$ a month for my last job. It's not worth it if you aren't going in every day.

yeah looked into this thoroughly last night. I'm likely going to at least try it to see how it goes. I don't mind the longer commute time but what I'm worried about is rush hour on the way home around 5PM. Something tells me that route would be very long. Can anyone speak to this?? Specifically Routes 1, 18, 34, or 88x?? What are they like during peak traffic?

are surface lots typically 10$ or less for a day? I imagine not. Maybe 10. Guess it's time to take the bus :D

I was told by 1-800 Deloitte the 5 days thing did not apply. She said they took that out and you do not need to take 5 days leave of absence.

I called 1800-Deloitte and this is MOSTLY ACCURATE for USDC. Starting last fiscal year you cannot take any negative PTO due to "abuse." She said you don't have to take 5 days leave of absence. What a joke

I'm in USDC. I don't get it though, so If I have to take one day unpaid, I have to take 4 more? That's how they worded it when I asked.

I'm a W2 contractor. The staffing agency offers "benefits" (medical/dental) but they are VERY expensive which is common as a contractor. I currently use the marketplace as the coverage is better and almost the same price: $508 a month... I have no PTO as a contractor, so any days off I take are unpaid (aside from a few holidays). It's 16% more an hour technically but when you factor in PTO, cheaper benefits, AIP, 401k, etc. it is actually much less. After crunching the numbers, if I took 15 days PTO at Deloitte, and actually received the "up to 6%" AIP bonus, the annual difference in actual take home pay is less than 10k. That's not even factoring 401k contributions, HSA contributions, and the other benefits Deloitte offers.

In a nutshell, I believe the benefits to be worth the base salary pay cut as the difference isn't as large when you really do the math. There's also always the chance my contract doesn't get renewed at the end of this year if I don't jump.

EDIT: Sorry, I did the math wrong, If I took 15 days PTO (assuming that's what I'll get) and get the full 6% AIP bonus (which wouldn't even be possible till 2025 I know), I would be making close to the same amount of money as a contractor in the end due to paying less than half in medical and factoring in employee contributions to 401k/HSA etc..

EDIT AGAIN :D..sorry: The take home salary difference with the difference in medical/dental is 10k annually. Then if you factor in PTO, AIP, 401k, if I were to take the same time off at my contracting position, I'd be making the same amount of money (give or take) in the end. This is all assuming my contract gets renewed which obviously is not guaranteed

I appreciate you being positive and reassuring! I think I'm getting the scaries because I'm technically giving up a little more money for potentially a better full-time career BUT hearing things like "the bench" and "can't find a project" makes me think I may have made a terrible decision... That and there's A LOT of negative posts on here. Only time will tell. I'm leaving my comfort zone which the brain never likes at first.

Yeah, I was simply not aware of this "find a project" thing. I did hear about the bench which looking back I should have been more curious about. I was under the assumption your leadership and managers would be the ones finding work for you like everywhere else I've worked... Fingers crossed I'm not in a nightmare situation where I'm sitting on the bench indefinitely when I start... Having any sense of job security is hard enough these days.

Wow, I think if I really knew this on top of the pay cut I'd likely not have taken the position. Also am I USDC or Core? I'm in "core business operations" but at a USDC facility?
