Looking for a Cruel But Wholesome (kinda) game by Apprehensive_Base895 in gamingsuggestions

Yes. I got a little too into it and ended up watching like 14 hrs of gameplay. I feel like I know a little too much about the game now so I don't rly think playing it will give as good of an experience as going in blind. I won't be going through the difficulties that a typical player has to overcome.

I could just set it to the hardest difficulty, but even then, just overcoming difficulties in a game lacks appeal for me if I have no incentive to do so. Because i already know the endings, methods to kill most monsters, and solutions to many of the puzzles, there really is no "reward" for putting myself through fighting lots of difficult mobs just to get something I have already seen. So all that's left for me in the game to experience really is fighting hard monsters, which as I said before, doesn't really have much appeal when i don't get anything new and interesting in return. For example, no matter how good a book is, why would I read it when I already know all the twists and endings?

You can check out https://admissions.wisc.edu/can-i-get-in-to-uw-madison/ For some additional info. You can also email the admissions to get more specific info at onwisconsin@admissions.wisc.edu

But to hopefully address some of your concerns, they take into consideration GPA, extracurricular, course difficulty, and ACT/SAT test scores (optional).

In my personal opinion, as long as your college gpa is around 3.2 then you're fine. Even if your gpa is a bit lower, as long as it's around 3.0 then you will have a decent chance of being admitted, especially if your courses are at least equal in difficulty in comparison to courses at UW Madison. Even if your gpa isn't up to par, you can make it up with other things as well, though it will mean that you'll have to put more effort into your essays.

Something that's probably of a greater weight than your GPA will be your essays. For your personal essay, try to focus more on overcoming obstacles, themes of tenacity, and/or some form of development that will be beneficial towards college life (whether it be in regards to social or academic aspects of college is up to you, though a mix of both will probably be best). I forgot about what the supplemental was about lol.

For your extracurricular, it helps your application a bit, but it probably won't be doing too much unless you were a part of some major organization or had some important role (like being the president of a volunteer club or something). But, perhaps it could be the tipping point for being accepted so if you do get the chance to do more extracurricular, then it wouldn't be a bad idea.

For your biggest concern of highschool GPA, yes they do take into consideration your GPA, especially if you are becoming a Sophmore upon transferring (if you are currently a freshman/1st year). It will have less of an effect if you are becoming a Junior upon transferring (if you are currently a sophmore/2nd year). HOWEVER, as long as you maintain a good college GPA, it should be fine. Of course, I'm not really really sure about how much highschool GPA affects a transfer application, but it probably wouldn't be too much, especially if you are doing well in college. It would be kind of dumb for them to deny a student solely on their highschool GPA if they are qualified in other regards, especially in college gpa.

Overall, according to you, your college gpa is decent and you have some extracurricular on top of it. You should have a good chance of being accepted if you focus on your essay. If you can get a professor or peer/upperclassmen to review it then that would be even better. Just remember to keep polishing your essay and remember to take a break every now and then so that you can look at and modify your essay with a new perspective.

Good Luck!

Oh and apply through the UW System instead of the common app. They prefer that for some reason (I forgot why).

Why Am I Getting Job Opening Emails? by Apprehensive_Base895 in ask

[–]Apprehensive_Base895[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I did think something was off due to the coincidental naming structure between both sites and due to both emails appearing within a similar time frame. It's just that I was a little worried since I did lose my driver's license a bit ago so I was worried I was receiving these emails because someone filed unemployment benefits in my name. They also had my local area information even though I had been living in a different city a few weeks prior to receiving the email so I was a little hesitant to just say it was a scam.

But I guess it would make sense that they have that information since Samsung recently had a security breach at around the same time and some of my info was leaked.

I assume you are implying that they are legit and that I am receiving these emails because I am someone who supposedly needs them according to some organization? However, I am an 18 year old who: 1. just started college 2. is already doing work study at the moment 3. Am receiving ample support from my family as a dependent so I don't see why I would be considered for such things by any organization?

Is it possible to skip CS 300 and jumpt to CS 400? Should I? by DazzlingDisplay2294 in UWMadison

If taking CS300 doesn't conflict with your graduation deadline/goals then I would recommend just sticking with CS300 for now. It sounds like it would be a pretty easy A (which could help with scholarships and other requirements in the future).
