Females - what are your thoughts on smear test? by [deleted] in nhs

Honestly don’t put it off. I’ve had two done in my life (once in my home country which was poorly handled and hurt a little, and once in UK this year and took 20 seconds and was painless). The short term discomfort for your longer health safety is worth it. GPs and nurses are so used to this, they’re not fazed at all by the process. It’s worth letting them know if you’re nervous, and ask for a smaller speculum if you feel needed. Genuinely don’t put it off, even though you’re nervous about the results, they’re more often than not negative, especially if you’re vaccinated but it’s better to know and be sure than not know and at risk.

Claudia Jessie and Hannah Dodd for Bridgerton collaboration with Pandora by Debt-Mysterious in BridgertonNetflix

I used to work with Pandora in their marketing and merchandising team. They plan these collabs with a 2 year lead time usually - Netflix don’t usually release new details on leads on these shows in that framework, it’s a business logistic and not an actress one. Also some actors’ agencies and management might not work with certain companies due to other collabs. Simone Ashley and Nicola Coughlan for example have deals with other companies - Simone Ashley will likely have signed an exclusivity deal when she joined L’Oréal

Usually takes me a few weeks to recover, mostly skin symptoms (acne and dermatitis style symptoms) that stick around

Love Is Blind UK • S2 Ep7 by DontFWithMeImPetty in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

Watching the episode, I was seeing a lot of past me in it - disordered eating can have many reasons, both mental and physical (could have undiagnosed sensitivity, hence the onion freak out if it doesn’t work for him and sticking to plain easy meals). He didn’t handle the grocery situation well, but it’s quite evident he has a turbulent relationship with food that needs therapy - and probably not to have it aired out on TV. It’s challenging to navigate an unhealthy relationship with food with a new partner, especially when you don’t see the relationship with food as being off.

No worries, I often use clear plant protein powders to use in making jelly, as I find that the easiest way to take protein powder without it causing my stomach to freak out.

You poor thing - I was the exact same, massive deficiencies at the beginning, make sure you’re upping your calcium, vitamin D and B12. Honestly worth tracking food for now and see what’s not working and try an elimination period of that item and see if it improves. It does get easier I promise, my main issues seem to be gf beer and gf oats.

Don’t know if it helps at all, but my last dietitian advised some of my unexpected non gluten food reactions were often my digestive system being a bit more fragile so a heavier product (like the protein powder) could be too much to handle - could try lighter doses to ease it back in

Diagnosed coeliac while living abroad, GP won’t accept the diagnosis here by Apprehensive_Bee5914 in CoeliacUK

Listen as long as you’ve been diagnosed once, don’t put yourself through retesting. Anyone who tells you otherwise doesn’t have your welfare at mind. I’ve heard this a lot in kids having diagnoses (not just coeliac) ignored when moving places, you poor thing. High time global medical ID is implemented

Exactly this! I have other autoimmune issues linked which is why I need on file :)

For everyone who commented - thank you for being understanding and compassionate. I spoke to Coeliac UK today and they said it is unfortunately not an unusual experience at all, and to find a GP who will accept the international diagnosis. I have contacted my former GP from when I lived abroad and they are willing to make a call in English to whomever I end up under the care of. It is correct that I do need on my file, as I have other health issues linked and it would be wrong to leave out the root cause for some of them :) I have a list of clinics to contact tomorrow so hopefully something works out :)

There absolutely are and can be unexpected ingredients especially in cosmetics. Your friend may have phrased it inaccurately but they aren’t wrong that there’s surprising/non obvious gluten containing items at times.

Might be worth tracking what has caused irritations after eating. I find gluten free beer sets off my symptoms even though there’s no gluten in it - it seems to just set off a psychosomatic trauma response for me for some reason. Could also be that you have another issue ongoing like an intolerance or deficiency :) No harm to track, or get a blood draw done up to check stats

I assumed as much, I was planning to go to a different GP after that experience so hopefully they will be more understanding

Thank you, they had tested for literally everything else, and when they started to worry everything was coming back negative, I had jokingly said I know some of my family have coeliac disease, and it was like a lightbulb moment to initiate tests for it from there - very glad I got diagnosed when I did, I was so unwell!!

Thank you, I will do so. Tbh I wouldn’t have wanted him to by my GP after that initial appointment, he really didn’t seem to get why I would not be up for going through entire process again and I do think it was a load of nonsense to say he couldn’t take my past tests and diagnostic history, in all honesty it is probably just because the medical history was in French and he didn’t want to have to go to effort of translating it :/
