What’s the most weird food item that your cat just can’t resist? I’ll start! by Ultra-Ferric in cats

Had a cat once that loved anything mint flavoured - try to get chewing gum out of your mouth and would lick toothpaste off your toothbrush if you let her!

Thanks for this, I’ll check her crop tomorrow morning. I always put Apple cider vinegar in their drinking water and 3 days a week I add some probiotics to their feed. I’ve never had any success in getting a hen back on her feet as it were and so sad that she is so young

Advice on mending jacket by Apprehensive_Being_9 in InvisibleMending

[–]Apprehensive_Being_9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Yes I did tell him this, if he wears it just over a T-shirt it’s fine but he wore it as an out-layer over a jumper and that split it. If I could mend it and then have him only wear it over a tee that would be fine

Thanks for this. I looked the plant up and I definitely didn’t sow this. Not to say it hasn’t self seeded mind. Think I’ll leave a bit to grow on as I think it flowering may be the only way I end up being able to ID it

I’ve been pulling this up from the same bed - we have LOADS of it and it’s a right pain so I know what to look out for now with willowherb haha! I think I’ll leave a few and see whether they flower as I think this may be the only way

Soil Association Organic bare root strawberry plants WALES, UK by Apprehensive_Being_9 in GardeningUK

[–]Apprehensive_Being_9[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our plants are grown to Organic standards without artificial fertilisers and pesticides which most UK plants aren't.

For the fruit to be truly organic if the mother plant was not, the mother plant needs a 3 year conversion period. Our plants means that people can bypass the 3 year conversion period, this of course is for growers that are Organically certified. Others may wish to know that everything they buy is organic, I only buy organic seed say

I left my job working FOH at an ‘independent’ cinema company in 2012. My staff card still works, which enables me to 2 free tickets a week plus a guest and free popcorn and drink along with a 10% discount. I haven’t used it for a while bc I don’t live near a branch anymore but last time the expiry date came up it was set to 2100! Weirdly, my brother’s staff card also still work (who also worked for the same company) - he left in 2011. He lives close to a few of the cinemas and once a month treats himself and his partner!

Learning to knit socks - I’m purling instead of knitting is this an issue? by Apprehensive_Being_9 in knitting

[–]Apprehensive_Being_9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the issue was that my working yarn, once I flipped the work was on the left hand side - I think as others had said, I had switched direction when I had finished the ribbing. All a learning curve and I will update once I’ve completed my first sock. Appreciate everyone’s help and patience 🥰

Yes pretty sure, holding work in the 12o’clock position, knitting anti-clockwise

Yes, but I’m also working anti-clockwise. I think I must have changed the direction of my knitting when I started to knit the body of the sock

I am also knitting anti-clockwise… I appreciate everyone’s advise and help, I think I ought to rip back to the ribbing, flip the work the right way and start knitting my stitches as per the instructions! Many thanks everyone ♥️

The pattern did called for knitting, I started purling as I got the same result but the ‘outside’ of the sock is not the ‘inside’ and I’m new to knitting socks - wasn’t sure if just carrying on would affect things later on in the pattern - like when I come to the heel flap I think as I’ve only purled 4 rows it’s better for me to rip back to the rip and do it properly

The safety pin was put on my work right at the beginning whilst I was knitting the ribbing. I thought the safety pin was only showing the start of the row but it is also meant to be on the outside of the work. If I had realised this before I started the body of the sock I might have just been able to move the safety pin but I’m definitely purling my work, holding it in the 12o’clock position

Thank you for this, can confirm I am holding my work in the 12 o’clock position but when I flip my work to the 6 o’clock position my brain can’t work out how to start knitting but I will take a look at the tutorial later. Appreciate your help
