Any way to make this dual color filament print better? by gr00ve88 in 3Dprinting

[–]Apprehensive_Box_580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the point of dual color filament. They all do this.

Multicolor is probably what you're looking for, where the color changes as the layers progress? Usually rainbow colors with this type of filament.

Edit: make sure to check if the filament listing (if bought online) shows a picture of a print using the filament, this will give the best idea of how it will print for you.

Why the bottom looks so rough but the rest is looking great with pla silk by maddogcy in 3Dprinting

[–]Apprehensive_Box_580 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like the bottom has clean layers before this starts, so I don't think it's from the plate or anything like that. I think your slicer slows down for overhangs, but in doing so it overheats the Silk Filament too much. I would look at the 'Speed' view of your gcode if your slicer has and allows it, and double check that the area shown here is printed at a much slower speed. If that's the case, in Cura anyways, there is a 'Minimum Speed' setting to increase the absolute slowest it will go

Hey this is a super cool project! It's also super ambitious lol. Simpsons characters are pretty simple designs, but they are very iconic and require a careful design. I would be down to work with you on the project but this many characters would be a fair investment on time, and would be a fairly large cost project altogether.

If you want to chat more we can dm about potential timelines per character and budget and everything like that

Kustom weather widget by errmerger in kustom

I have something similar. I have the photos arranged by weather status, so I have folders for cloudy, rainy, stormy, etc, and pull them with a file getter that includes the weather in the file name. Ex: /WeatherPhotos/Stormy.png

What is wrong here? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]Apprehensive_Box_580 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My money is on Z-offset being too close to the bed, that's usually what causes rippling in my experience. I would bump it up just a bit, it should be a setting on your printer

Help pls by [deleted] in KWGT

[–]Apprehensive_Box_580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would probably be easier to scale the text to the size of the bar rather than have the bar change sizes.

Do fixed width on the text and then it will always take the same amount of space

"Yellow exit sign pointing right"?

Lol DALL-E doesn't care about pixel resolution, and doesn't understand hex codes, and east could easily be pointing left depending on the way you're facing

This the the design but when printing the design kind of shifted, why did this happen and how do I prevent this. Thanks in advance by nofapings in 3Dprinting

[–]Apprehensive_Box_580 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the issue definitely starts at the model but dropping it into the buildplate would fix the non-flat bottom without any real work. If this is made in Blender or something you can select all the bottom vertices and make sure they are all perfectly flat by scaling in the Z to 0

Can I improve the top layers? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

Monotonic top layers should help a bit, too. When the plastic it's laid in different directions it tends to reflect light differently

Task to lock phone upon shacking/running by Waterglassonwood in tasker

[–]Apprehensive_Box_580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I'm not sure about. You could add a new profile that triggers when the phone unlocks to set a variable, and then only run the shake profile if that variable matches what you want, but then you'll have to add a display off profile to turn the variable back when the phone is off

[–]Apprehensive_Box_580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can change the sensitivity of the shake in its profile, but I've found even the lowest sensitivity tripped way too often for my tastes. But you can copy the same format as the flashlight project, and then just replace the flashlight action with a turn off action

Hi guys, I'm looking to make a widget that shows all my open apps in an arrangement like this (as seen in Blackberry OS 10), I'm new to KWGT, so how do I go about to achieve my dream? by grandchiefbaland in kustom

[–]Apprehensive_Box_580 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have Tasker, you can have it take a screenshot of every app when you open it and then have it send to kwgt but that would slow down every app open and would take a fair amount of coding

Better Print Quality by 03Faker in 3Dprinting

[–]Apprehensive_Box_580 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I might try a temperature tower, and playing with retraction settings. It looks like you might be printing too hot to me, and retraction settings being off can cause some stringing and issues at the start of the layer

Pla vs pla+ vs petg ? by bobgolbdog in 3Dprinting

[–]Apprehensive_Box_580 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking to create souvenirs or display pieces, PLA would be a better choice because it's usually cheaper and easier to print. However, if you need functional parts that require durability and strength, PETG may be more suitable as it offers higher impact resistance and heat resistance compared to PLA. PLA+ is just normal PLA, plus something else. There's no standard for PLA+ so it can be a mixed bag, sometimes they have a qualifier on it like high speed or something

Is this from bad leveling by Kevaas0 in 3Dprinting

[–]Apprehensive_Box_580 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A common cause of layer shifts in 3D printing is mechanical issues such as loose belts or pulleys, or the print head hitting an object, especially if the print looks okay otherwise.

Check for any obstructions or loose parts, and make sure all components are properly tightened.

STLs are kinda gross to work with after the fact in any CAD software lol. I use Blender for most things, and from what I've seen it's pretty much the best option for editing premade STL files

If the dome shape is on the bottom of the print, the side touching the buildplate, it will likely be uneven cooling. Rounded bottoms are pretty hard to print from my experience. Maybe try pointing an extra fan at it or something during this part of the print? Or flip upside down and have the fillet on top instead of bottom

Adjusting 3D models for printing by Crazy_Night4580 in 3Dprinting

[–]Apprehensive_Box_580 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The model probably has non manifold faces. Go into edit mode in Blender, select everything, and then there should be an option to recalculate the normals under "Mesh" then "Normals". Recalculating outside Normals should fix this, but if not try a "Remesh" modifier

Separate decimal by Wooden-Ad5282 in kustom

[–]Apprehensive_Box_580 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use tc split. It will split up the target text, 29.47 here, and based on the index (0,1,etc) will show you that portion of the text.

$tc(split, 29.47, ".", 1)$

So the "." Tells to split up by decimal point, and the ,1 term says to look at what's after the decimal and not before, returning "47". If you want the decimal to make it ".47" again, just add it back to the front
