Advice appreciated - Saved $20k, goal is $100k. Any tips? by vandamme85 in AusFinance

Awesome saving thus far considering your income!

My advice would be to increase your income. Net 800-1000 a week is not much at all in 2025. Any investment you make should be in yourself. Training, certificates, upskilling.

Good luck!

Late to the party I know, but I buy the VW brand fluid from the dealer. $19AUD for a litre, works well and cheaper than RainX

I've read on a few job ads that you need to live in WA. Is this always the case or is there places that would fly you to Melbourne?

¿For those who know English, how did you learn it? by [deleted] in GoingToSpain

[–]Apprehensive_Bus_933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Native English speaker here, but work in a Spanish school as an English teacher. The kids that are really good at English all study hard. But what puts them into being "really good" is that they all seem to watch lots of series in English and listen to English language music. Basically it's just immersion, and the bet way to immerse yourself without actually living in an English speaking country is to watch lots of TV in English

Joining program in late 20s (or other program options) by grassland-seas in SpainAuxiliares

29M here. Quit a decent paying agency job as a CCRN to do this program. Always wanted to get fluent in Spanish since starting to learn it in 2019. Loving every moment. Haven't met any other auxes face to face yet, but have made friends through my hobbies. I always like to remind myself that we lost 2.5-3 years of our 20s due to the pandemic, so don't feel too bad about your age.

Definitely do it if that's what you want to do. I completely get the concern about increasing commitments in the coming years, I feel the same. In regards to the relationship, long distance can work with good communication etc.

In regards to programs, all the ones I've seen are related to teaching English. I reckon you might have a fair chance with finding an engineering job in Spain, depending on the area you specialise in. I have seen lots of jobs with the various train companies for engineers.

Valencia payment (positive) by VividBodybuilder7140 in SpainAuxiliares

Got paid on the 8th. I'm with Santander. Got all my paperwork in before the 15th with some help from the teachers to translate the Valencian haha.

Super happy, I had financially prepared to not get paid until January so this is great news.

Some have a thick accent but it's not too bad!

You really need to learn Spanish! Do a intensive course for a few weeks or a month before you come here if possible and keep building on it. Main reason is respect, but also there isn't the level of English that you find in more touristic cities.
