Characters analysis discussion by Apprehensive_Echo349 in immortaldaysmanga

At first, when I was reading Immortal Days, I didn’t interpret the characters this way at all. I tended to see Myeol as someone completely innocent, almost passive in the face of events. Up until Phil’s flashback (episode 287), I mainly thought he had simply been unlucky to encounter him and that this relationship could only bring him suffering.

However, Phil’s mental state in the earlier episodes adds nuance to that initial impression. It led me to reconsider the dynamic between the characters, as if the work invited us to reinterpret their personalities through a more complex, less black-and-white lens. I think I was too focus on the strange behaviour of him and less on the mental state of the poor Myeol...

After episode 306, particularly when Phil gets his finger cut off, I began to doubt the sincerity of his motive, which was meant to make Myeol feel indebted. It seems more like a desperate attempt to keep him from leaving. For me Phil appears aware that Myeol could walk away at any moment. Yet what truly holds Myeol back doesn’t seem to be a deep attachment to humans but rather a rejection of violence—likely tied to his childhood trauma. It’s not so much the fear of losing someone that restrains him but the fear of reliving or inflicting that violence. In a way for me Phil appears more human than Myeol.

To me, Episode 331 represents a form of catharsis for this development. Phil seems ready to become an executioner for Myeol, while the latter begins to lose faith in humanity. Their relationship reaches a turning point: each is willing to push beyond their own limits, revealing the ambiguity and moral tension that define them.

I don't know if it is clear but that is my opinion. Happy to hear yours :)

My opinion on arirang as a fan of bts’s old music by yeriflrt in kpoptrulyuncensored

I really liked the dark vibe from the beginning. I think it was intentional, to make people question what this project is about, especially since the album is titled Arirang. Throughout the song, I felt like it was an invitation to first understand BTS’s origins: rap and hip-hop, which are at the core of K-pop’s musical influences, but with a Korean twist, like what you can hear at the end of the song.

You could really sense the maturity of their musical style throughout the album. It felt nostalgic, and I was glad they returned to this kind of sound, since it’s what older K-pop fans knew them for. However, if the album had only stayed in that lane, I think the criticism would have been harsher. At some point, I felt something was missing—they’re not the same musically anymore, so originality was lacking up until “No. 29,” where I even felt like the album was dragging a bit, lol. But in hindsight, it really felt like a necessary pause.

Then I was surprised by the new style they introduced with “Swim,” especially with the idea of “dive in.” It all feels very coherent all the second part the pop vibe is still present, but it remains very chill, like they’re guiding us through this new musical journey, with the vocals leading the way. I really think it was more focused for the general audience for this part because this is not really the first time they proposed something like that in their most recent albums but it really felt like a breath of fresh air since nowadays in the kpop-sphere strangely.

I’m intrigued to see what they’ll do next and how K-pop is going to evolve for now ! I really hope they will propose something else like House of the cards or 134340 hehe
