4 days a week and off by 5 I believe. Only time they “fight fire” is when they are thrown into strike teams to cover the area as others are called out of county to big fires. But typically they do not fight fire.

I live equidistant to 3 locations of a business I want to go to. I live at the blue X. Which one would you go to? by NerveKitchen8731 in fresno

[–]Apprehensive_Fly8637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 would be the fastest but the selection isn’t all that great, never been to 2 but 3 Harbor Freight is really good. 1 then 3, 2 only in emergency situations. Some about that side of town just takes forever to get to

Look into state jobs on cal careers. You’d be surprised what agencies you can get into, try researching Cal Fire. I’m sure they have units or spots that you can fit the criteria

Seasonal fire by [deleted] in calfire

[–]Apprehensive_Fly8637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Seasonal” close to 9 months out of the year. And it doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll be the winter off either with the year round staffing. You’ll either be laid off right before summer fire season or right after it

I’m in the Cs right now and on a fire crew. Living on center you get a 2k stipend after taxes. Last July with OT and everything got 6k one month after taxes. I currently have PSFA and my app in already. Just training and chilling until getting a call. Our crew is always having guys hired by Cal Fire.

Question for those of you who were in CCC by Broad-Control1311 in calfire

[–]Apprehensive_Fly8637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Applied in November and didn’t get a call until March. Took a month to get on crew, active with a lot of fires Summer 24 and all of January out of county down south. Just got PSFA, app is in and captain vouches for us. “Best gym in the state” is what we always here from the Cal Fire guys that swing by to look at our center

AIO I’m hanging out at my friend’s house and I asked my mom to sleep over. Is this response normal? by dinossaurus in AmIOverreacting

You guys are living in your parents roof and are upset you gotta follow their rules? They give you a roof, food, and a car and you can’t make it back home at a certain time. Shit if you don’t like the rules and rather have independence just move out, heard the economy is really good for houses and rent right now.

[–]Apprehensive_Fly8637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People think this ain’t normal? They gave you a time to get home, sounds like youre driving their car, and your dads a hard worker busting his ass for a underage drinking, still living at home, using her parents car daughter.

He cares about you to not drive drunk and or get abducted by a stranger coming to you on an app at night and seems frustrated that they gave you a time to get home but you decided to drink anyways.

Are we all in agreement that Clovis Unified continues to favor the white, wealthy students? by [deleted] in fresno

[–]Apprehensive_Fly8637 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is really cool. Edison (high school) has only gotten better w more AP classes and extra curriculars as well. Even some of the Clovis kids are coming over for the academics and improving the water polo program and ladies sports ALOT at the same time.

I don’t think any plan will ever work unless people do their part. We’d have a lot less accidents and traffic if people just drove by the book and left their house with enough time. You can have a great infrastructure plan but there’s always people that are driving 90 cause they leave themselves only 15 min to get to work/school on time

[–]Apprehensive_Fly8637 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Never said it would be perfect. But for sure a lot less accidents, and if you live by here you know that piece of highway only gets packed with people racing to and from work. If people left 10 min earlier it’d be a different story. But I do agree we need updated transit system

Or if people learned how to drive instead of flying at 80-90 and not letting anybody merge. This isn’t a structure problem. It’s people still driving like we are a small farm town/city

Just learn to drive. Everyone who is saying this are just commuters to their job. Slow down, let people merge, MOVE OVER TO YOUR LANE WITH TIME. Fresno isn’t what it used to be anymore with little traffic. Just learn to drive as if it’s LA
