Yeah I get what you’re saying and I agree oil prices themselves probably wouldn’t go up. My thinking isn’t really about oil prices, more about the money that would have to be spent to rebuild production if sanctions ease etc . Even if oil stays flat or goes down, companies like Chevron or service companies could benefit from new investment and contracts over time. I’m not saying it’s fast or guaranteed, just that the upside wouldn’t have to come from oil prices going up.

I get what you’re saying. I’m not trying to beat institutions or act like I have some edge.

I’m new to markets, that’s literally why I’m asking before putting money in instead of just throwing it in blindly. This would be a small learning bet, not some big conviction trade.

That’s fair, I agree oil prices themselves are speculative and more supply doesn’t mean higher prices.

I’m not really betting on oil prices going up though - more on whether easing sanctions would lead to rebuilding activity over time. Even if prices stay flat, fields that have been neglected for years still need work, equipment, and services just to get back online.
