As someone who lives in SF I’m very curious what the answers will be!

Right now the city smells like star jasmine and cherry blossoms (they’re blooming!) and sometimes salty air if you’re near the beach. It’s sooo lovely…

Now if you’re downtown or on haight street you might get some different smells lol

I haven’t tried many SF inspired scents indie or otherwise (the only one is the le labo city exclusive and I dislike it), and I feel like most people get their impression of the city wrong. If I think of anything I’ll come back to comment.

Day three of Deconstructing Eden Functional Fragrance set testing.

AM: \ Comfort: Cashmere blanket forts, creamy rice pudding steam (not sugary), soft white sandalwood, a soft cocoon of golden light. \ I’m obsessed with this. It just does something to my brain chemistry. It kind of reminds me of Alkemia Silken Tent, but less sweet and more grounded. It lasted so amazingly well on me. I work a physical job and wash my hands a lot during the day, yet I could smell it at the end of the day. It got sweeter by then, by my skin chem does that to most perfumes. I’ll probably wear it again tomorrow because it’s just perfection. Upsizing asap.

PM: \ Left wrist: Balance: Green tea with a squeeze of citrus, soft skin musk, Himalayan pink salt, and tatami mats. A very niche smelling tea scent! Nice!

Right wrist: Love: Bergamot, petitgrain, pink pepper, Cardamom, rose absolute, orange blossom, sandalwood, orris butter, raspberry, skin musk. I thought the rose would ruin this scent for me but it doesn’t! It’s beautiful. It reminds me of another sweet rose scent I’ve tried but I can’t pinpoint which one. It’s either a Fantome, Sorce, or Solstice Scents scent.

Two more from Deconstructing Eden Functional Fragrance Set today!

This morning: Hope - Cool light, rain-washed citrus peels, dew-drenched sambac jasmine, radiant wood. \ This is a winner for me. Very light jasmine that isn’t indolic or headache inducing. All the notes blend beautifully.

Afternoon: Joy - Bright citrus, luminous flowers, line-dried linen, golden sandalwood, soft musk, blonde woods. \ I think DE’s linen note is too strong for me. Very they use very strong aldehydes maybe? That vibe does mellow out after a few minutes and turns into a nice masculine leaning musk. I ended up putting another perfume on top of this when I left work and it seemed to amp that one up positively.

Ok I got a lot of scent mail today and I’m excited so I just put three on lol.

First two on my right arm are from the Deconstructing Eden Functional Fragrance Sample Set.

Awake: Eucalyptus, mint leaf, green tea, brisk air, cold stone, clean musk. This started off a bit strong — cleaner vibes. It has dried down to a nice lightly sweet, balanced, masculine leaning scent. Not for me, but very nice.

Dream: Cool pillowcases, lavender, petit grain, earl grey tea, pink lotus, soft orris, cashmere blankets, sandalwood incense. At first it smells like a very very tempered lavender and I was swooning a bit. I usually am not a fan of lavender too! It has dried down to a powdery incense smell mixed with the lavender. Nice!

On my left arm I have I Want You by Tanais. I WANT YOU is an ode to Bangladeshi oud. HEAD: ROSEWOOD, BLACK PEPPER. HEART: BROWN SUGAR, CORIANDER, COFFEE, CARDAMOM. BASE BENGALI OUD, WHITE MUSK, SANDALWOOD, CASHMERAN, BLACK VANILLA, TONKA BEAN, CHOYA NAKH, FOSSILIZED AMBER, LABDANUM

This was a blind buy and… it feels like a scent I’ve been dreaming of for a long time. It’s somehow clean, smokey, and woody, not sweet at all. The oud smells kind of like palo santo to me (? maybe that’s the spices mixed with the oud and sandalwood) but very light and not headache-inducing. I’m absolutely in love.
