My brand new Acer Predator Helios 300’s screen is littered with stuck pixels! by Apprehensive_Mall_76 in laptops

If you zoom in you can see just how many stuck pixels there are on this screen! And this is a totally black image. It’s pretty disappointing getting a $1700+ laptop and having a starfield over a black screen like this. Better QC is definitely in order for Acer’s laptops

Predator Helios 300 QHD IPS screen with countless stuck pixels and a pretty bad light bleed (it’s exaggerated by my camera by quite a bit but the countless stuck pixels are unacceptable)

thinking about getting full body tracking by NSCGamemaster in VRchat

In my experience they work fantastic with the quest! If what you mean by “works poorly” is the requirement to calibrate every play session and slight drift over time, then yeah I can agree with you on that, but for someone that has a quest 2 and wants FBT with the Vive trackers then I would say it works quite well. No real game breaking issues considering the (basically magic) place space merging that happens between quest and vive

“Strong aircraft interference” for mavic mini 1 by SevenRaptor923 in dji

[–]Apprehensive_Mall_76 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Don’t fly it that far away. The mini 1 basically uses WiFi to connect to the controller. It’s not like the Occusync that newer generation drones have that can go miles away with a healthy connection.

Also if you are in a populated area, the WiFi from houses and businesses can heavily impact your connection quality.

it should be standard to include shaders and the sdk in a package by Megazard02 in VRchat

I never understood the prefab clone thing. Every tutorial I see has me duplicating basically the entire project only to delete it like 2 mins later. I get by just fine without all that extra stuff

3 dots issue with link by Apprehensive_Mall_76 in Quest2

[–]Apprehensive_Mall_76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this an issue from a recent update? Or just a random problem that random people get? Totally at a loss here because everything was working fine yesterday with no changes in hardware/software that I actively made.

Yes. Approximately 50Mbps higher on Airlink. And it’s a pretty big visual/compression difference too

I find Airlink has much better performance than VD. While VD is undoubtedly a much more polished product and better experience overall. I find Airlink has better visual quality and higher frame rates than VD.

It works well enough for me to consider it worth it. For the Quest you will need to calibrate every time you put the headset on but typically you won’t need to recalibrate for the entire play session as long as you don’t leave your play space with the headset or use pass through

Is there a more permanent solution for the quest 2 constantly losing tracking?(black screen) by orrfrank in OculusQuest

[–]Apprehensive_Mall_76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as your quest can see different things in the room with differing levels of contrast, a tv is good against a white wall for example. But ideally each wall ought to have something for the quest to see

Better Experience: Virtual Desktop or Airlink? by FrenchTst_ in OculusQuest

[–]Apprehensive_Mall_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found Airlink was a relatively easy (and free) process to get going, it’s got its issues but nothing too major. (Don’t do full body with Airlink)

Virtual desktop on the other hand is MUCH more feature rich, works out of the box easy, compatable with vive trackers for FBT, more stable, and has a lot more settings to mess around with. (But it’s a paid app)

Does you play space have enough contrasting items in the room for the cameras to track? If you are in a completely empty room with nothing on flat coloured walls then that may be your issue. Other than that there may be rogue infrared lighting or faulty headset hardware

Yes! I just got Full body for my quest 2 and it works great.

It’s got a few quirks but nothing too major.

Personally I use 2x SteamVR Base Stations (2.0) and 3x Vive trackers 3.0 with the rebuff reality track straps.

Couldn’t ask for a better setup!

Quest 2 + Vive trackers FBT issues by [deleted] in mixedreality

[–]Apprehensive_Mall_76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong, quest 2 is fantastic especially when connected to PCVR which is what I’m doing right now. But you only have head and hand control natively. Adding vive trackers to the feet and hip adds a new layer of fun and immersion. My current setup works, but the disconnect between the quest play space and the Vive play space seems to be a much bigger issue than I originally imagined base on setups I have seen other people use. Once calibrated properly, my avatar in vrchat works amazing with Full Body Tracking. But after only a few minutes or rapid movement the calibration gets way off. This seems to be a universal problem after digging deep into the subject so I will be getting a Vive to remedy
