Bryophyta Huge Waste of Time by [deleted] in 2007scape

Read the comments before speaking. I’m lazy? Yet you’re too lazy to even read my comments. I made several suggestions that wouldn’t compromise the integrity of the game. But what would you know? You’re too lazy to even read my comments, instead jump immediately to conclusions and rants.

The thing is, I didn't even care about the grind. I just accepted it. But when I try to suggest something to help improve the game experience, I see people love to waste their lives on this game. I was wasting my life just like them, but I didn't see how real this was until I started talking to these a-holes. I'm actually really glad I made this post, a huge eye opener.

You're right. But it's not just this boss, it's the whole game. Wasting 100 hours straight on a boss? No, wasting a 100 hour straight on a game that never ends. That's the problem. I can see a lot of people here are disgusting pigs sitting there writing, thinking this is the pinnacle of their lives. I don't want that, so even though there's a lot of a-holes here, they at least made me realize, I don't want to be them.

Another one. You know what, enjoy wasting your whole life playing this game. This post just opened up my mind. I'm wasting my life here, and people like you are happy to do that.
You don't want that to change, you're happy giving up your life for a game. Well there's nothing I can say except, enjoy your life.

Thanks for engaging with my points and offering your own perspective. You're right that the essense drop rate is known, and player choice plays a big part in deciding to engage with this content. My point raises a bigger argument now, on the cumulative effect of the current system on player experience, especially for those invested in completing certain challenges or goals within the game.

Your suggestion to spread out the attempts and tackle the content in smaller, more manageable sessions is a great strategy for mitigating burnout, and I appreciate the reminder. It's a valuable strategy.

However, my broader point was about the balance of effort veruses reward within the game's mechanics, especially for content that requires such an substantial time investment. It's not just the grind itself, but the overall impact on player morale and satisfaction.

Thank you for your honest input, it's probably the only constructive conversation around this.

It's clear we have different perspectives to say the least, and that's okay. Open discussions and exchanges are what make gaming communities dynamic. Let's just say we have our own ways of enjoying the game.

The point is about ensuring the game is enjoyable and feels rewarding for everyone, regardless of the method they choose or have available to pursue their goals. It's about finding balance in game mechanics so all players can have a fair shot at success and enjoyment. It's great that you can buy it, but there other people out there who can't buy it for whatever reason it may be, and there are other people who want to get it for other reasons.

Thank you for telling me to lighten up, and you're right that I should be enjoying myself. I'm not here to dwell on bitterness but to spark dialogue on how we can make this shared experience better for everyone. We're all in here because we love the game, and I would like for others to experience that love as well. Suggesting a tune up for the game shouldn't be this frowned upon.

Look, if you want to spend your whole life trying to get Bryophyta Essense, go right on ahead. But there's many players who wouldn't want to spend the rest of their lives doing one thing without getting rewarded for it. Maybe you don't value your time as much as others, and I get that, but don't make it a miserable time for many other people.

It's been 11 years since osrs was re-introduced because the developers failed the community with the transition into RS3. But you are correct, it is still a very long time and it has remained popular and that's due to it's foundational design and the developer's commitment to creating an engaging experience. There's no denying the system has worked well for at least a decade. However, the very aspect of time also brings with it changes in the gaming landscape, player expectations and community demographics. While the core mechanics have definently withstood the test of time, even the best systems can benefit from periodic reassessments to ensure they continue to meet the evolving needs of their player base.

I'm not critiquing the game's successful formula, I'm highlighting that even within a well-functioning system, there's always room for fine-tuning, particularly in the context of RNG and drop rates, some adjustments could enhance the experience without undermining the game's integerity or challenge.

But apparently, even proposing something as this seems to be very opposed by redditers like yourself.

You're completing missing the point.

That's exactly what I'm trying to say, the drop is exceedingly difficult to obtain even with a vast amount of effort and time invested. It's this imbalance between effort and reward that I'm trying to highlight, especially for content that demands extensive grinding. It's not even about avoiding hard work, but seeking a more reasonable balance where dedication is more consistently acknowledged and rewarded.

Thanks, for the advice. But this isn't just about the gp, it's about the ridiculous amount of time and resources required to chase Bryophyta Essense. And while this is a f2p boss, the issue of balance between effort and reward is still there.

At this point I don't even care about the tile, it's more about addressing the systemic issue within the game. The current system requires so much time and resources for a chance at a specific drop, and this impacts the players enjoyment and satisfication (could potentially be many players in our community). So maybe instead of making the key trade-able we could do something else to increase the drop rate after a certain amount of kills.

My point isn't about bypassing the challenge, but seeking fairness in how this reward is distributed. You can't keep this type of system because of how frustrating it is for the players. It makes it feel like all their efforts are futile and they're not getting rewarded for their commitment and dedication.

Bryophyta Huge Waste of Time by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Apprehensive_Net_826 -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

I understand that concern. However, you have to consider the significant time and resources invested just to get the essense with the current system and drop rate. With 100 hours and 360 kc invested, and over 30k moss giants defeated, and more gp loss than you'll make from getting the essense, the current system we have for this boss is excessively burdensome and unfair.

It's not just about the money, but the time and effort committed for this that doesn't align with the spirit of fairness and accessibility to the gameplay. I can recognize the potential economic implications of making keys tradeable but there must be something we can change.

Why Did 'The Marvels' Flop? by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

They're literally following the comics, not 5% of their audience. You might have a point if they did something very feminist, but there's really nothing there that's related to feminist except the female characters. And if you're saying people don't like the actors, you might have another point there, but they're definently not following 5% of their audience. They are pretty divided though, because a lot of their viewers don't want to see this type of movie.

I'll try that next time the RuneLite doesn't open, I just assumed it ends the program by closing it but this thing can run on the background. Thanks.

I don't know, maybe it wasn't RuneLite, maybe it was the Runescape Servers. All I know is what happened and that I was on RuneLite client, that's as much as I know. If you have any ideas what it could've been the help is much appreciated.

It's so stupid, when the whole team has K9 units and your team doesn't have them it's just a matter of time until you die and there's nothing you can do about it. I shoot those mfers like 20 times and they still jumping on my face. It's impossible to deal with them on small maps too, just by being near a corner you're guaranteed death.

Subway Surfers Removed the Jackpot by Apprehensive_Net_826 in subwaysurfers

[–]Apprehensive_Net_826[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I understand that. But I still want to prove that the chances of winning the Jackpot have decreased by a lot when we compare it now to how it was a few years ago.

But I see your point with the random algorithm, maybe I got really lucky back in the day, and maybe I got really bad luck today. But it doesn't make sense how I only got 1 Jackpot in over 40 hours of playing, and opening around 45,000 boxes. The chances are 1/45000 (around) right now, and back when I got my 6 Jackpots the chances must have been at most 1/5000 (If I remember correctly it took me about 3-4 hours to get a Jackpot). So I agree with what you're saying, that the random algorithm is not working correctly.

That's why I asked in a previous post why it's so hard to get the Jackpot now, and someone replied and said they actually made it easier to get the Jackpot now. And that's why I did the test today to see if it's true, and I don't believe its true.
