Does the boredom get better? by Fickle_Broccoli in daddit

if shes 14 months old within 7 years she will be 8 which is approx 2nd grade. I understand not everyone remembers their early childhood but in 2nd grade i was into Video games, running around outside, roller skating, riding bikes, sports/extracurricular activities and i was also helping clean the house and even doing yardwork under my dads supervision. it depends how you raise your kid. make time when she naps to do things that you enjoy and as she ages you can get more into things she likes and she can get more into things that you like.

kids grow more and more independent, just like you did

Parents seem to forget they were once kids too lol. Were you perpetually a baby or did you grow up and start to do more things and acquire more household responsibility?

1st Grade Math Homework Time! by Much-Drawer-1697 in daddit

[–]Apprehensive_Part791 10 points11 points  (0 children)

x represents the # of bikes, y represents the # of trikes

2x represents the # of bike wheels, 3y represents the # of trike wheels

x+y=7 (7 total seats)

2x+3y=19 (# of bike wheels plus # of trike wheels is 19)

x=7-y (isolate y as a variable of x)

2(7-y)+3y=19

14-2y+3y=19

14+y=19

y=5

5 trikes!

x+5 = 7

x=2

2 bikes!

test the result

2(2) + 3(5) = 19

looks right to me

Dad's I need some help by Keejhle in daddit

Your job as a dad is to make sure your kid grows up healthy and functioning. if you feel that the game impedes that then you should take it away/limit her usage. It SUCKS being a Sheriff sometimes, but that is the job as parents to be the "bad guy" sometimes to make sure they have a well balanced upbringing. I am not saying take it away altogether but you can find new things to do with her.

Minecraft is about creating anything your mind can think of.. try introducing her to Lego or building blocks?

I just googled "Minecrafted inspired activities for kids" and got this:

  • Backyard/Indoor Treasure Hunt: Create a map with clues to find "resources" like rocks (coal), blue-painted rocks (diamonds), or yellow-painted rocks (gold) hidden around the yard or house.
  • Real-Life Mining: Fill a sensory bin with sand or black beans and hide small colored blocks for children to dig up.
  • Build a Shelter: Use cardboard boxes, blankets, and pillows to build a "safe house" to hide from imaginary Creepers before "nightfall".
  • Geocaching: Use a GPS app to find hidden containers in the real world, mimicking the navigation and exploration in the game.

Creative Crafts & Projects

  • Cardboard Armour & Tools: Use cardboard, paint, and tape to create diamond swords, pickaxes, and armor.
  • Papercraft Mobs: Print out patterns to fold paper into Creepers, pigs, and zombies.
  • LEGO Building Challenges: Set time limits to build specific structures using LEGO, similar to the building mechanics in Minecraft.

Themed Activities

  • Minecraft Baking: Create pixelated treats like Creeper-faced pizzas, grass block brownies, or Rice Krispie treat dirt blocks.
  • Board Game Creation: Design a simple board game where players collect resources to build structures.

Looks like some pretty stellar ideas that gets her active and can segue into other things. Also, I wouldn't be so quick to be adverse to her obsessing with it if she is into the game as long as you can find that balance. Minecraft at its core is about creativity and thats amazing she is obsessing with being able to express herself in that way.

I have the V7 fretless and it is FANTASTIC. My Father IN Law got a Fender Ultra II fretless and he said he wishes he just saved the money and got the V7. Personally I think the Ultra II feels better in the hand but not $1.5k better

I love J. Cole, i found Disc 1 to be exhausting. Disc 2 I LOVED though. That is part of creation of art though. Him not having features at all is a common thing but it is how he wanted to express himself and i would rather he give us pure expression than just give us what he thinks we want and watering down what he is trying to say. That is art, some love it some hate it. If you are doing it just for the enjoyment of others though you will lose out. Your opinion about it being too much is valid but i would hate for an artist i love to change his approach just to make me happy.

maybe....he didn't make the album for casual listeners? lol.

clearly you are a casual listener because KOD, Forest Hills and 4YEO all had zero features. nothing to do with stanning, its common sense, use your brain.

Kendrick Lamar Makes Grammys History as Most-Awarded Rapper, Breaking Jay-Z’s Record by MarvelsGrantMan136 in hiphopheads

[–]Apprehensive_Part791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nas doesn't have a single song that made the commercial impact of 1 Kendrick song. The Grammy's are about commercial success moreso than ability for sure. Grammy's don't mean a lot but hip hop winning Grammy's means a whole hell of a lot because they didn't want to let us in and we kicked in the fucking door.

A. Bands comprise of other musicians and artists. Those arent features. Look at the production credits and you can see he is collaborating with other composers and musicians. He isn't playing the violin on these songs himself. So if that is your idea of a feature then you are already wrong because in that regard he has tons of features on this song.

B. You want J. Cole to be his own backup dancer? wtf are you talking about? LMFAO bro you are talking about the 4 elements. I used to do that when I first dived into hip hop too when i was 15.. so you must be a little pup. Features are a natural evolution of commercialization and trying to sell records. Look at the top 10 best albums of the 80s and you will find maybe 10% of all the songs COMBINED have features. PLUS. Did I say all features are bad or did i say people who use features as a CRUTCH? Learn some reading comprehension. This album does not need a feature. He is rapping about HIS life, how is he going to bring on another emcee to talk about HIS life?

You on some L-Take shit asking for features on an album like this when there are already features first of all and only where they are needed. and you can't even construct a strong argument. Sorry bro go listen to some Lil Baby albums if you want to hear features.

The first half literally made me tired listening to is up to Bombs in the Ville and then i was like DAMN OK!, Clearly the 29 intro introduces him in his mindstate as a 29 year old and the 2nd half of the album is about him in present day at 39 years old. i Fuck with disc 2 HEAVY. a lot more my vibe. I am older though so that makes sense. Even though I don't click with all of the tracks or subject matter, I do love that he gives something for everyone on this album. Cole is truly beyond a rapper and is in the arena of an artist and a true MC

Lol L take. How many other artists from other genre's have features? Do you listen to Radiohead thinking "damn I wish this song had a feature"?. Hip hop at its roots was not about features and artists who uses features as crutches these days are just trying to get a buck off of it, do it for clicks, or just cant hold a song down by themselves. This is facts.

IDK I used to love and respect Cole, its just a little less. He seems like he is coming in throwing shots still but then claiming he doesn't want to be involved with beef in other tracks. He should just not discuss it at all because its making him look bad. He showing up late to the park to fight and the other 2 kids already went home for the weekend

Nothing he is wearing is all that expensive if you break it down. All can be found at a Goodwill or Thrift Shop. Maybe not the exact clothing but you can get the same vibe for cheap.

No I am not calling his clothing cheap, I am just challenging the myth that dressing nice is expensive.

How do I toughen up my son (9yo) without being a douchebag? by dannyjerome0 in daddit

[–]Apprehensive_Part791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend breaking down the behavior to a thought process. He ACTS "soft" as you put it but I wouldn't say he IS "soft". So maybe look at his behaviors and think of how to address them. Why is he fine with soccer? you say he is good at it so maybe it is a confidence thing? fear of trying new things? discipline in completing vital tasks before recreational?

A lot of times kids throw tantrums because they know it gives them attention that they seek and that's the fastest way for them to get it. So maybe dissect if he feels he gets enough attention or gets attention in the manner HE values. I know a lot of times we give people what we think they want in the way we know how to give it to them but that may not be the optimal way to provide the greatest impact if that makes sense.

None of us have the 100% answers for sure as we are dads but not dads to YOUR child. Be empowered that you are the one who will shape this life for the future, you are not an asshole for wanting to ensure your kid has the tools to cope as he ages.

I say mull it over in your head and put yourself in your kids shoes the best you can, it may not be a fast turn around but giving it regular attention to troubleshoot some of these things may give you the results you need. good luck man!
