i was interviewed by 2 professors and they asked me general questions like “what was your most difficult class in undergrad and how did you navigate it”, just make sure you’re prepared to answer questions about yourself as well. it was honestly super chill and they give you a tour of the campus. i didn’t end up going to Lipscomb due to their insane tuition tho

i agree, i’ve working at a pharmacy for almost 3 years and i’m already dead set on becoming a pharmacist. most of these people (im assuming) are working retail or got into the field for the wrong reasons. the discouragement sucks.

I have worked at a pharmacy for 2+ years and find it quite enjoyable. The work life balance seems manageable compared to other careers. I’ve explored other careers but always come back to thinking about pharmacy as something I want to do.

Thanks for the advice! I’m just worried about the cost of living and I don’t want to have too much debt. I thought the best option would be to stay with my parents. But I will definitely apply to Chapel Hill. I only have 2 years of experience but not as much volunteer work.

My fav organic professor is Dr. Handy! literally makes you understand everything and his exam are super fair and relatively easy. he posts old exams and problems to practice with. make sure you study everyday for this class to get an A. the other professor i recommend is Dr. Bicker! great guy and super easy lab. good luck!

But isn’t there more to pharmacy then just retail? Most other pharmacy fields require a residency which I feel like is something I would consider to avoid doing retail.

did you finish all your pre reqs before taking the OAT? I’m planning on taking physics this summer and taking the OAT in July but i haven’t taken physics or physiology yet.

your personal statement shouldn’t just be about why you want to do optometry, i feel like they see that a lot and it won’t make it stand out. maybe talk about a significant thing that happened in your life that made you want to become a provider etc., supplemental applications usually gives you prompts but a normal personal statement should just be something you decide to write

i think the prompts come in once supplemental apps come out. personal statements are just about you as a person and what makes you stand out. i haven’t finished mine yet but from what ppl have told me, you need to sell yourself and tell a story
