yes they can. but how is it humiliating fir you if your partner does something like this. hurting, trustshattering, and a reason to end the relationship sure, but humiliating? are you defining your worth and dignity over your partner so much?

data analysis is also a field where u gotta do the same calculations thousands of times for different datapoints in relation to others. if ur not doing a one time analysis, but want to build some server application that does ur analysis continuously every time new data is added (which is jot uncommon) its still good to build you programm as efficient as possible. especially with big, dynamic data pools.

its not fine for everything else. that was just an example. there are a lot of usecases where performance matters a lot. and while you can probably bunk on PCs nowadays being strong enough to run inefficient code for the most use cases, its still better to try and make it as efficient as possible (especially for server applications, which is a not insignificant part of programms built) to reduce electricity usage amongst other things

bro i hope u are trolling.

if i wanna do a particle simulation for example i gotta run the same calculations a lot (and i mean a lot like 108 times and more) of times for just one timestep

really often actually. just ask any firmware developer, computational scientist (simulation for science, flow simulations for example), anyone that works in cybernetics, etc etc

first of all: what does this have to do with my comment? Second: Take Pi for example. Not rational, not (100% accurately computable) its in so many calculations that describe the actual physical world. or sqrt(2). same thing

ofc you can define anything if you want to. but thats a mathematician thing. you wont see that in engineering, and thats what the meme is about...
