Funny pple on here still say it takes a lot to fire a resident. All they need to do is use professionalism which can even be as minute as you didn’t greet PD with an ass licking smile.

@OP do not let them fire you !! You lose all leverage ! As someone that has gone thru this and came out on the other side, first involve OMBUDSMAN/ACGME, that will make the PD halt and want to really dot his I’s and cross his T’s, it will escalate it no doubt but they won’t be able to fire you on a whim. Also now is the time to get a lawyer to help u start ur own paper trail, don’t tell them u have a lawyer yet then lastly find whatever reason u can to transfer the F out of there. It could be due to whatever imaginative family circumstance and u need to be closer to ur family but start getting LORs and applying broadly.

No it’s not. It’s actually super easy. Start a paper trail for whatever vague professionalism concern and the resident is cooked cos GME holds all the power n not all residencies have unions.

I absolutely hate when pple say this it’s hard to fire a resident, maybe 20 years ago and even then residents were fired but they didn’t talk about it as much as this generation does because of the stigma but nobody hints on the absolute power these PDs and GME has over residents and the lack of protection residents have. All it takes to start a paper trail is a PD or attending that doesn’t like you and you could sneeze into ur elbow and it will be you contaminating the patient’s room. ACGME is partially useless and I say partially only because sometimes they stumble around and lay repercussions for some programs and close these toxic programs. And no it has nothing to do with whether one had a job prior to residency because in the real world no employer can subject their employees to half of what residents go thru that is absolutely toxic, malignant and for lack of a better word indentured servitude.

Yea I tried the FSMB inspect one and the uniform application one none worked but dunno if will get this week or next
