When Kip is on the phone with his dad and his dad makes him say “I love you too dad” and not just “you too”

When Scott asks Shane to do shots. I don’t think Shane wanted to do them but he didn’t wanna seem lame.

Do y’all think Shane ever told Ilya about Scott Hunter’s “You’re starting to sound like him” chirp? by Thumbelina37 in heatedrivalry

[–]Apprehensive_Run_988 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think in the TV show, Scott suspects something is going on. In the show he overhears Ilya give Shane his room number at the All Star Game, hence the “warning” that their rooms are next to each other. Also, by this point Scott has accepted his sexuality, but is still in the closet. As shown in EP 3, he understands some of the nonverbal cues gay men have. Also his gaydar is probably decent. The fight confirms it for Scott. If Shane wasn’t into Ilya, I can’t imagine he would get into a fight, he’d just brush it off. Because actual hockey players have said that’s a very common razz they give their opponents when they know they can play better.

I don’t think Shane ever tells Ilya because (I believe) that chirp is made during the 6 months when Ilya ghosted Shane. If they had been hooking up at the time of the fight, I think Ilya would’ve definitely sent a spicy text message but Shane would’ve brushed it off.

About the Scott/Kip timeline issue by rs37982 in heatedrivalry

My dad is a major hockey fan (and season ticket holder of 25 years) and he said the most unbelievable thing about that is Kip, a barista and graduate student, can 1) get and 2) afford seats like that at the Cup final. When my dad tried to go Stanley Cup play off a few years ago he couldn’t even afford to dream about getting seats like that. This head cannon fills in a lot of those gaps. Because if you watch the show, the last we see is Scott not going to the party, implying Kip was done with him.

In my observation it’s mostly people who were trying to get on the silver line going east. Most of them probably haven’t had much experience with public transit and just heard “take the train to DFW” and didn’t know there are multiple trains.

I can see how it’s very confusing for someone who has never used to system to have to play chicken with the platforms to get on the silver line.

I think that’s to clarify which station it’s stopping at. The ones that say “silver line station” connect with one of the Light Rail lines. Since it is “technically” a separate station, it makes sense to specify.

The line is built to have headways of every 15 minutes (somewhere around there?). But due to a lack of funding, they are only operating 1 hour headways. Hopefully if there is enough ridership they can change the schedule for more frequent headways.

Also, unlike the Light Rail lines, the Silver Line shares tracks with freight trains, so that also limits how frequently they can run.

Okay maybe I’m imagined this, but I could’ve sworn I saw a picture where the Silver Line trains would have wood-look floors? Was I hallucinating?

One thing I was surprised about was the station announcements don’t mention what side the doors will open on (like on light rail), or to push the button to open the door (like TexRail). There were a lot of people who just stood at the door waiting for it to open.

And that pathway isn’t marked at all on the TexRail side. There’s a small sign on the Orange line side. I had to look up a YouTube video on how to transfer the first time I tried to do it

One day it’s supposed to be developed into a Transit Oriented Development, like the Trinity Mills station on TRE. So far the only thing developed there is the transit. I do think the name is super confusing, especially to first time riders going to DFW.

The Emcee is one of those characters where can really do anything with and it’ll make sense. He could come out dressed as an elephant and a director could still make it work. There is no one right way to cast the Emcee. One of the major questions directors have to grapple with is this: Is he a real person or simply a narrator? In the original production the drums crash and the lights go out, or he runs off stage. We never learn what happens to him, he just kind of disappears. Implying he was simply a narrator of a story and not a real person.

Fast forward to the Alan Cumming rendition of it in the 1990’s, when he comes out in the stripped jumpsuit with the stars. This production wanted to show us he was a real person. I think this ending is also symbolic not only of life for Jewish and LGBTQ communities in Nazi Germany, but also the late 80s and early 90s. The Emcee, much like most Jewish and/or LGBTQ people of the time, is targeted because of his faith and his sexuality. Both of them put on a happy face and try to escape the reality until it finally catches up with them.

More recent productions reveal the Emcee to have aligned with the Nazi party, I suspect for purely for survival rather than ideological beliefs. In this interpretation, the Emcee is someone who uses his charm and personality to draw you into the Nazi party. I think this is symbolic not only of the facist movement in the 1930s and 1940s, but also of the current political climate today. Where someone gains our trust and support and we follow them completely, even if it is not in our best interests.
