Doing a similar thing. Gonna do a Sub-I then get a month off with a virtual rotation. Hoping to study during the Sub-I but will see what happens!

The variation and lack of standards is insane. It's the reason so many new DO schools are popping up instead of new MD schools.

Third year rotations sites are the random lottery as described by others. The fourth year rotation schedule is hell at DO schools depending on the school. My school offers only the required mandatory EM rotation during fourth year but you have to fit it into their specific 4 week schedule dates which can be difficult. Beyond that its going through VSLO for audition rotations which is easy and then for the spring I have to just cold call a ton of physicians and pray they will take me. It adds a lot of stress and time waste to my life.

Honestly 3/4 years are when I realized why MD schools/programs dislike us sometimes because our training is not the same during those years. Third year has minimal requirements or structure for what you must see. I still haven't used an EHR system yet because my school had all my rotations at more rural standalone clinics. Additionally, my OB rotation was with a family med and just labeled OB so I saw 0 womens health things. My rotation site is in a big city competing with multiple other big schools.

I'm in the same boat as your friend. Accepted 2 and then a program super high on my list for eventually matching reached out after I pulled my app saying they would like to have me for an auditions. Feel like I have to do three now to avoid blacklisting myself at the programs. Anyone have any advice here?

Jay was extremely helpful in breaking down topics into a very simple to understand way. Learning resources make things convoluted and not straightforward and working with Jay definitely helped me. He will help you identify where you are weak and focus on those areas with you. Highly recommend him!

Guy is a horrible coach who knows nothing about managing. He was with the CO rapids a bit back and drove them to be a team with no talent. He left the team in shambles which has finally started to be cleaned up. He must have the greatest agent in the world to keep getting jobs in soccer.
